Geez. That was sad. Was like my wife directing her dementia step mom. Step by step with pointing and close supervision. What an idiot. Can’t even fry fries.

What do they do? Run background checks on everyone in the place before he walks in?

Trump went to McDonalds to score a Happy Meal Boo Bucket. This year's theme is monsters ...

Generally, I’m sure even for “spontaneous” events secret service frisks any patrons that are in there (or ask them to leave before POTUS arrives if they don’t want to be part of it). Obviously almost all of those factory and small business events politicians do are staged. But I think campaigns (and POTUS) do pop into restaurants on shortish notice sometimes. At least ones they are familiar with.

For this McDonalds appearance it was closed for the day and apparently had a “rehearsal”. That’s kind of hilarious. I don’t think that is the norm for these things. I’m sure after that assassination attempt secret service probably wants much more control over conditions.

I actually tend to agree but like Trump himself the business genius the photo-op at the McDonald's was another example of misrepresenting an media illusion as reality.

You're probably right especially following the recent attempts on Trump's life although I do find it rather humorous that these people managed to enter Mar a Lago when Trump was present.

If you read the notice above, this McDonald's was actually shut down for Trump's charade (see post 183.) I have no idea if those were real McDonald's employees or not. I know for a fact they didn't shut down the Tampa Krispy Kreme. It was the one on Kennedy Boulevard, my secretary's daughter was working there.

Do you think there is a difference between a POTUS visit to a restaurant to purchase food versus a POTUS going into the restaurant and actually serving food?

If you watch the Krispy Kream visit, you can see the USSS team secure the door after Obama walks in and everyone in the store is waiting for him to walk in. Clearly everyone had been checked out and Obama had the OK to enter. The USSS were not going to let any one in behind Obama.

Prior Presidents have done things like serve food at homeless shelters. When they do that I don’t think they kick out all the homeless and just pretend to serve food to hired actors for the photo op. I think they actually serve food to needy people who were probably screened but are otherwise as presented.

This was more like one of those staged events visiting a factory. Not a big deal, all politicians do these staged events. But I recall a parallel where they kicked out all the actual auto workers and instead had a bunch of campaign people pretending to be the factory workers. That’s more deceptive than is typical even by politician standards.

Exactly. I have been practicing law for over 33 years. I’m not not getting hired based in my bag boy line of work over 40 years ago.
