I assume that Trump will be handing out the Brian Sicknick Award among others to the attackers, this one "for making a major contribution to the death of a police officer."

And yet Trump goes into some of these cities where their police departments and unions endorse him. Insanity.

Well, they've turned "conservatism" into an unrecognizable pile of BIG GOV shit, why not do the same for "patriotism"?

The OP article shows how sloppy news reporting is these days. Somehow, an event being held at a Trump golf course gets morphed into Trump is hosting the event. The promoters merely stated that Trump was invited to speak.

According to the New York Times, “Trump will not be in attendance at a fundraising campaign slated to be held at his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club next month in support of those serving time in the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol insurrection case, his campaign confirmed.”

Think about it. Why would Trump host an event to raise money that would not go to help his election? The money raised will go to help the J6 defendants. Why would Trump waste his time with that if he’s not getting any of the money?

No, not really. When someone is a national public figure and they own the property, it's not inaccurate to refer to them as "hosting" something.

While you're right that Trump is a selfish grifter who does nothing for anyone but himself......it's telling which part of this story you find offensive enough to comment on. It's not that Trump is apparently allowing fellow felons and traitors to utilize his property, instead of firmly telling them to pound sand like any lawful American would do. No, your primary objection to this vile event is how it is reported in the unfair media.

Sorry man, but the main problem our country is facing at this moment is not the media. It's the division, criminality, and grotesque immorality Trump has introduced to politics, encouraged his followers to employ, and insisted that the political party he hijacked practice.

Oh - and anyone who isn't opposed to that, and part of the solution, is instead part of the.....well, you know how the saying goes. Which are you part of again?

Edit : Also, your NYT info almost certainly came out after this original article you criticize.

We have to disagree here. I find it a much more serious matter that the news media is sloppy and most often reports inaccurately, perhaps even intentionally, than it is that the manager of a golf course allowed an offensive event to be scheduled.

You seem happy to accept lies and misinformation as long as they’re directed at someone you hate. The news media is for more important than one person who will not be around much longer in the public eye.

LOL. I do not think that a media reporting a Trump property hosting an event as "Trump is hosting" is quite the crisis for Democracy you seem to think it is. Certainly not "lies and misinformation." :)

But hey, if you DO want some media "lies and misinformation" I'm pretty sure there's a thread about a second right wing media outlet that is likely about to also pay a huge settlement for knowingly publishing outright lies.

I'll go check maybe, but were you as upset about those outlets literally publishing lies.....which severely damaged our Democracy, no less......as you are about this insanely outrageous headline? ;)

Ya know, we pick and choose what offends us. And what we tolerate. It says something about who we are. For me, I'm patently offended at anyone who would allow their property to host a fund-raising event for people who assaulted and beat hundreds of cops, and desecrated our Capitol Building in an attempt to overturn an election. You? Clearly less bothered by that.....

You have a valid point on whether he'll be hosting, as in attendance. But it's at his golf club. Do you think there's any way that would happen without his approval?

Trump attended the Jan6 fundraiser last year which was also held at his Bedminster facility. He even stated he was going to donate to it. According to this year's promoters, he's almost certain to attend...99.99%. Blaming this on a rogue golf course manager? Two years in a row? I literally have to virtually laugh in your face at that one.

    Here's the promotion for it:

Remember, he has stated on multiple occasions he intends to pardon them if he is able to.

You can play with semantics all you want, these things have Trumps prints all over them.

I am looking at the big picture. If this was an isolated incident, then I would agree with you. But it’s not. It is far too frequent that news sources report inaccurate, misleading, and downright false information. If news sources cannot be trusted, then that does significant damage to our country. Trump’s going to be gone in a short time. New sources will still be here for generations.

    Yes

    Not at all.

You are confusing J6 with an event to raise money for the defendants of J6. They are two separate events. I spoke out against the riot in the capital, so clearly your last statement is false.

In terms of this event, which I do not support, it’s a matter of constitutional rights. They have freedom of speech and they have freedom of association. I don’t like their speech and I don’t like their association, but that’s irrelevant to their right to speak and meet.

There is a fundamental difference between me and you and your compadres. You all see Trump as the great and terrifying Wizard of Oz. I see Trump as an obnoxious little man behind the curtain.
