Having muscled Trump out, DeSantis now squatting, rent-free, in the frontal cortex of the liberal hive mind.

He could get the rights to EltonJohn’s “Tiny Dancer” to play in the background as he dissed DeSantis.

Getting interesting. Probably frivolous but still notable.
A Pro-Trump Group Files an Ethics Complaint Against DeSantis
MAGA Inc., a super PAC supporting Mr. Trump, filed a complaint with Florida officials on Wednesday, alleging that Mr. DeSantis — the former president’s chief potential rival for the Republican Party’s 2024 nomination — is operating a shadow presidential campaign.

The super PAC said that Mr. DeSantis should be considered a presidential candidate because he has taken meetings with donors, raised money for a political committee and toured the country to sell books, while allies are reaching out to potential campaign aides.

“Governor DeSantis’s failure to declare his candidacy is no mere oversight,” reads the MAGA Inc. complaint to the Florida Commission on Ethics. “It is a coordinated effort specifically designed for him to accept, as unethical gifts, illegal campaign contributions and certain personal benefits.”

I know this is off-topic but Ron DeSantis is running for the presidency. Not as absurd as a certain former cocaine addict who tried to monetize his father's position living rent free in the minds of a whole lot of conservatives.

DeSantis is a particularly thin skinned politician. He is paying the Babylon Bee to not make fun of him monthly.

There is a story that has come out about him eating jello pudding during a meeting with his fingers and Trump supporters have memed it calling him, "Ronnie Brown Fingers." This won't set well.

Just my take, a majority of Republicans in the Senate are still Reagan Republicans while a majority of the rank and file of the party as well as a majority of House Republicans have abandoned Reagan's principles with respect to foreign policy and are all in with the MAGA isolationist policies of the useful idiot who previously occupied the White House, the guy who referred to Vladimir Putin as a genius. As far as Ron DeSantis is specifically concerned he was once a Reagan Republican (see his comments regarding Russia after it annexed Crimea back in 2014) who has since decided that his path to the Republican nomination is dependent on appealing to the now majority isolationist pro-Russia wing of the party.

Majority of pubs in the senate were probably in office when Regan was president. :)

How petty can you go? Trump campaign says anyone currently working on Desantis’s book tour or working on his campaign will not be considered for any federal job or position if Trump wins. Personal loyalty to trump supersedes all. Given the quality of some trump’s hires in the past this is believable.

As Ron DeSantis emerges as a prospective rival for the Republican nomination, Donald’s Trump campaign has put word out that anyone who works for the Florida governor will be blackballed.

According to sources with direct knowledge of the edict, Justin Caporale, who helps lead the advance team for the former president, has said that anyone who staffed a recent DeSantis book tour will be considered “persona non grata.” A top Trump ally was more comprehensive, telling RealClearPolitics that the prohibition would apply to more than just the junior aides tasked with setting up folding chairs and hanging banners.

Maybe instead of bringing down the entire country, Trump will just destroy the Republican party

In an organized crime family absolute loyalty to the Don is the one litmus test that takes priority over every other criterion.

Its a theory that honestly makes a lot of sense, but as they say never attribute to malice what can be attributed to incompetence. I don't know of a group of people more incompetent than the denizens of DC. Or perhaps they're so competent it just seems that way.

If it's Trump vs Biden in 2024 we might as well just cede to China now. Why even vote?

a lot can happen in politics in 18 months. Especially 5 yrs.

in 1Q 2015 (where we are now for 24) Jeb! was the talk for R and Trump was a long shot. Late in the 2016 presidential campaign, after trumps Access Hollywood tape and him discussing SAing women, Hillary was roughly a 3-1 fav. And going into 2020 trump was favored to win but lost by 10m votes.
