You can tell who the debate platform favors based on how long each issue is discussed, how they’re framed, and which issues are omitted.

If the whole debate is about January 6th and Trump’s criminal indictments…

Hell, if the whole debate is about Ukraine funding, abortion, and transition away from fossil fuels… you know who it favors.

On the flip side, if the whole debate is about the Afghanistan withdrawal, support of Israel, and inflation… you know who the debate favors.

 

What does any of that have to do with muted mike's and an audience? Those are the "terms" we have been discussing. You are spinning off into an entirely different area.
But in that regard....I think it would be reasonable for the topics of the debate to be vetted by each campaign, obviously the primary focus of the debate should be issue driven rather than some gotcha game. I don't think you can entirely ignore the past actions/resume of either candidate so there are bound to be some tough questions for both sides, as there should be. But focus on issue driven questions. IF a candidate takes it off the rails that's their fault for opening a door. A candidate that answers the issue related questions will do well, a candidate that gets up there and blatantly lies is fair game

 

No, you are characterizing the terms Kamala Harris wants as this innocent “asking of questions and enforcing debate rules.”

I am rebutting the innocence of that format indicating that it may or may not be so innocent (we wouldn’t know until it happens) and I’m suggesting that no muted mics and a live audience is a more likely than not an equalizer of sorts in favor of team Trump.

If the Democrats and media are going to make it a circus, might as well go full blast and have it favor Trump.

I, for one, think the muted mics probably help Trump since I believe he turns people off with the frequency of his interruptions. Biden's most famous line from the 2020 debate was probably telling Trump to shut up.

 

Trump offered 3 debates to Harris today. 3 has always been the norm.
