Yes, that Robert E. Lee statue that used to stand in Lee Circle in New Orleans, which was erected in 1884, wasn't racist at all because Robert E. Lee didn't have slaves that he enslaved and beat and he never betrayed his country to fight for the South to keep them enslaved.

 

Do you have any confederate soldiers in your family tree? Have you deleted them? Are you for bulldozing the confederate section of Arlington National Cemetery? How about burning all records of the Confederacy? Doesn't all this make sense?

Because there's totally, like, no rational middle ground. As in; don't erase records of the confederacy or bulldoze ANC ......... but also don't have monuments to people who mainly fought to preserve slavery.

Doing it in a rational manner, as stated right there ^ ........ simply wouldn't be possible. If we don't bring the statues back, why that's the same as ..... bulldozing graves.

My father’s line fought with Ulysses S Grant so no…. My mother’s side was in France and didn’t arrive until after the civil war.

The Confederacy was flawed belief system, build on hate. They believed that all of god’s children, weren’t equal to each other. They got what they deserved.

We don’t want to burn their records; we want the whole world to see them; so everyone understands their flawed concept of humanity.

 

My Great grandfather on my dads side surrendered to Union forces in Ky and spent the rest of the war in the Union Prison camp at Point Lookout MD. My great great grandfather on my mothers side surrendered to the Yankees just outside of Gainesville and was transferred to the prison camp at Ft Pulaski Ga.

I tell people I have cowards on both sides of the family. At least the one that was in Ft Pulaski prison camp did escape.

They didn't fight to defend slavery, they fought to stop their homes from being burned and their livestock slaughtered. Like so many others in time of war, just trying to protect their family and what little they had.
