At what point is it OK to make references to fascists like Hitler? How far does Trump have to go if directly quoting Hitler's manifesto and Trump saying he'll create immigrant concentration camps isn't enough?

Free country, you are quite "OK" to say what you will when you want to. I'm just pointing out the fact that if want to complain about the rhetoric on one side you have to be willing to look at the other side also. Bringing down the temperature starts one person at a time, and I am trying to be more cognizant of my own rhetoric. You do you though.

he has already encouraged rebellion to prevent the free transfer of power. does that qualify as an attempt to destroy democracy?

hitler - yes, over the top. Trump uses the same mannerisms and tools that Hitler used to demonize the opposition and justify harsh treatment of any opposition.

Putin lover - there is no doubt. Trump has openly praised Putin many times throughout the years and is or was deeply connected financially to Russian interests and capital. Trump Org told us in no uncertain t terms that they had eastern European financing they could guarantee if we came to terms on their management contracts. that was 2004. Trump would absolutely love to have the power that Putin has to dismantle and imprison his enemies.

this was 2014. this is how the golf courses in UK and Scotland were purchased.

Eric Trump in 2014: ‘We have all the funding we need out of Russia’ | The Hill

He said asked Donald Trump how he was paying for his courses, and the now-president “sort of tossed off that he had access to $100 million,” Dodson said in the interview.

Dodson said he then questioned Eric Trump, who was along for the day.

{mosads}”I said, ‘Eric, who’s funding? I know no banks — because of the recession, the Great Recession — have touched a golf course. You know, no one’s funding any kind of golf construction. It’s dead in the water the last four or five years,’” the writers told WBUR.

“And this is what he said. He said, ‘Well, we don’t rely on American banks. We have all the funding we need out of Russia.’ I said, ‘Really?’ And he said, ‘Oh, yeah. We’ve got some guys that really, really love golf, and they’re really invested in our programs. We just go there all the time.’”

You have fallen for his unspoken persuasion that Michael Cohen warned us about. Apparently those that stormed the Capital fell for it too. At the very least, he is desperate to instill fear.

I understand that it is a very scary time. It feels like the world is heading for a terrible end. I also think this narrative is especially seductive in some sectors of the media and our culture. For others, like my elderly Puerto Rican neighbors who spend all of their time with their family or volunteering for their church, the world isn’t like this at all. They never bring up the imminent end of the nation. Now you might say they are just blind to the realities of our world, but they might lob the exact same criticism back to you. When’s the last time you volunteered to help others?

A similar poster has made similar claims to yours in the past. Eg he claimed that Sept 1, 2022 would be later recognized as the start of the next American civil war.

Now this maybe true one day still, but the fact that almost no one today has any idea what happened on that date suggests this claim was likely overblown.

Our emotions can get the best of us, and can be a full time to keep them in check. However, the more meaning we have our in life, the fewer remote outside occurrences can penetrate our inner being. When I asked above about volunteering, I meant it. Volunteer. Join a club. Sign up for a group exercise class. Political discourse can be a wonderful thing, but anything that imposes on you an existential fear for your entire life is most decidedly not wonderful. That’s terrifying. It doesn’t have to be though.

No. It's necessary because all of our media left and right tries everyday to make Trump and any opponent, Biden or whoever, seem exactly the same. J6 and many other things he's done makes Trump a unique danger to this country.

Case in point on the White House drug story: Headlines read "White House Prior to Biden Had a Drugs Problem." See how they intentionally leave Trump out of it? Happens all the time.

So I have never responded this way, but these have to be the most disturbing posts I've ever seen on this messageboard. Not ALL repubs are a threat, just the maga ones.

Thank you for reminding me why we moved out of Louisiana, the only state to go for David Duke.

If I were a mod I'd be looking into you and your posts. [IMG]

I like to back up my rhetoric with facts. Wasn't a fan of W. Bush, but never once called him Hitler, or Hitler-like. He was far from it. I found him to be well-intentioned, but not intellectually curious enough to question what was coming from far right conservatives like Cheney. And because of this, W. made some poor choices.

But Trump? Again, he directly quoted from Hitler's book and that's not all. Again, if someone talks like a fascist and goose steps like a fascists, you shouldn't complain when someone calls him a fascist!

Tell that to your Democrat friends. The ones rallying against Jewish people. We all know where that led in the 1930's. You only want to see your own perspective. I get it, in your view someone like me might as well be a terrible Nazi. From my perspective it's your side who are disturbingly like the fascists. It's your side who want to crush anyone who opposes you politically. It's the Democrats who IMO are doomed to repeat history. IMO if Hitler was alive today instead of 100 years ago he would've been a Democrat.

I truly believe that those of us who side with Trump will be on the right side of history and those of you who side with Biden will be in the wrong side of history. I could be right, I could be wrong. That's just my belief but it's one I sincerely hold.

I say what I say because I just don't care what Democrats and Liberals think about me anymore. My biggest character flaw was that I was too meek in my 20s and early 30s. I cared too much about what other people thought of me. Trump showed me to be myself, to no longer care what people think of you. If people hate you they are going to find any reason to hate you so be yourself.

I say what I saw because I know it gets under the skin of Democrats. That's why I like Trump. Trump doesn't bow down to the Democrats like the establishment RINO's do. Where the RINO's spend all their time trying to get the "moderate" vote (a vote they never get) and apologizing for everything, Trump is refreshingly unapologetic. Be who you are. Those who like it will be in your life. Those who don't, well they don't deserve to be in your life anyway.

I don't want to see the U.S. split up. But I think it will be inevitable. I don't want to see major unrest here in the U.S. in the future. But I think it's inevitable. You can not want something and understand that it's inevitable.

It's funny you all talk about me being anti-freedom. It's many of you Democrats and Liberals on here wanting to report me. Yes report someone who has paid all of his taxes (not only on time but early most years), donated time and money to organizations, pays his bills and who's worse offense is one speeding ticket and one ticket because I didn't wear a seatbelt (which I think is abolutely wrong and pathetic but that's another topic.). Yes I'm such a terrible person because I don't subscribe to your groupthink. Do you not realize how that sounds?

Many of you here are the ones who want full on minority report style policing here in the U.S. I personally don't want anything to do with that. I value the first amendment.

But I won't back down anymore either. You want to call us deplorables and horrible people, I'll hit right back. That's the thing about Democrats and Liberals, they can dish it out but they can't take it. And why should they, until Trump Democrats and Liberals have never had to deal with someone who will dish it out to them. Until Trump Democrats and Liberals have never had to deal with someone who will actually stand up for them.

Come November I'll vote for Trump for one reason. Because he stands up against the Democrats and Liberals like no other RINO has ever done or will ever do. And I'll vote for Trump just because I know it drives you all crazy. :)

You talk about not wanting to break up the country, but you post some of the most derisive and dividing rhetoric on the board. Which is it? Do you want the country with both liberals and conservative to thrive? Or, would you rather break the country apart and live in what you think would be a conservative utopia? Make up your mind.

By reading what you write, it's obvious. You don't care about anything but whatever upsets and/or hurts the libz! And frankly, that's pathetic. I'd rather see if we can find common ground, find what we have in common, and not be afraid of compromise. I'm big enough to admit that I don't have all the answers, and maybe some of the conservative ideas might have merit. But when all the Rs bring is the hate and vile rhetoric that isn't intended to do anything but hurt the liberals, how are we, as a country, supposed to find common ground and areas to compromise?

Trump has brought out the worst in people. And you celebrate that. I find it deplorable. I'm willing to give people the benefit of the doubt and hopefully see the error of their ways, and open up lines of communication so maybe we can find common ground? Are you?

I do not want to see the U.S. break up. But I do want to see the U.S. get back to what the founders and constitutionalists wanted. A very small federal government that provides a common defense, currency and infrastructure. Outside of that all other rights belong to the states.

Washington D.C. has become far too corrupt and far too powerful. Our founders would be horrified to see how concentrated power has become. States have largely become neutered. States have no real power against the federal government. The federal government can put its foot on the neck of the states any time it wants. In my opinion D.C. should not exist as it does nothing but promote centralized federal power.

We need to get back to the American experiment. Where states are far more like countries and have complete autonomous control for almost everything except for interstate commerce and a common currency, infrastructure and defense. No more Department of Education, no more Department of Health & Human Services, no more FBI, no more IRS, no more ATF, no more TSA. Above all no more unelected unofficial Fourth Branch of Government. All of that has to go away or at least be extremely trimmed down. Are you ready to consider that?

Understand this. Louisiana is my country. The United State is not. My loyalty is to my state above all else. That is exactly how it was when the U.S. was founded and that is still how it should be now. Let countries succeed and fail on their own.

Covid should've shown all of us how corrupt the U.S. was. States like Florida tried to save their economy while states like California were all too happy to throw their economies away with brutal draconian lockdowns. California should've had to have dealt with the consequences of that action. They didn't because they got bailed out by the federal government. That is flat out wrong and a state should never get bailed out by the federal government, especially for something like Covid. Are you ready to truly let states succeed or fail based off their own policies without intervention?

I don't want the U.S. to fail. But I would rather see the U.S. break up into individual countries that are far better at representing their citizens than keep the U.S. in the form it is in now.

Your last paragraph says it all. You say you want open discussion and compromise but you approach it from a perspective of utter moral superiority. Understand this, YOU ARE NOT MORALLY SUPERIOR TO ME IN ANY WAY. And that goes for all Democrats. Democrats are not morally superior to Republicans in any way. By calling Trump supporters "deplorables" and calling MAGA supporters traitors you are starting the conversation from a false moral superiority. As long as Democrats do that there will be nothing but battles. There will be no compromise. You want an open dialogue? You want real conversations? Then agree, right here and right now, that you and Democrats are not in any way morally superior to Republicans, including myself. Do that and then we can start to have some real discussions and maybe even compromise. But until that happens there can't be real discussions.
