The U.S. government just doesn't have the stomach for bribery investigations. If what Hillary did as Secretary of State (accepting hundreds of millions of dollars for her "charity" foundation in exchange for face time with the Secretary of State) does not qualify as criminal, nothing will, short of cash handouts on video in front of a national audience with the two people saying the word "bribe". The only positive thing about Trump being elected in 2016 was that the U.S. did not convert into a cash-only government run by bribery. Once Hillary demonstrated that you could win the highest office in the land and get filthy rich doing it, ALL politicians would either put their hand out or retire.

Looks as if most of it was for use of his buildings and hotels?

I have never stayed at anything Trump-related but I am guessing it's not cheap. Banks connected to China spent the most at 5.5 million over 4 years. A bank was a big tenant of one of his buildings. Does anyone know what it costs to rent office space? I pay 2.7k a month to rent 1300 square feet in St. Petersburg for office space. I am guessing it's quite a bit more expensive per sq ft to rent in a Trump building lol. I am also guessing they used a lot more than 1.3k sq ft.

Were Trump businesses supposed to stop operating after he became president?

    Corrected it for you.
It almost surpasses the Dems hate of Pence.
As much as the Dems despised Pence over his policy positions they have never called for his lynching or suggested that he was a traitor for performing his constitutional role of overseeing the certification of a free and fair election and unlike the defeated indicted former president no Democratic politician has suggested that the insurgents who called for the hanging of Mike Pence were right.
Donald Trump said maybe mob was right to chant ‘Hang Mike Pence’ – report

I’m not a rocket surgeon when it comes to the financial requirements for a president who owns a business,,, so I ask.

What do the rules “actually” say you have to do to meet the requirement? Honest question.

No, but if he was the least bit ethical he would have transferred operation of the business into a true blind trust.

I could be wrong and without looking it up, I thought he transferred everything to other family members while he was president?

A blind trust does not alter the ownership of an asset. Therefor it does not alter the manner in which the owner of the assets in a blind trust will benefit from the earnings of those assets. So, the net after tax contribution from this $7.8million would still have gone to Trump under either scenario.

With regard to management of the at issue Trump assets, who really thinks Trump’s level of activity in the management of his assets would include making decisions as regards which foreign officials stay at any of his properties.

BTW, has anyone found any information as to the actual amount of the benefit derived from the $7.8 million? I’m still going with $750K until their is evidence it is something different.

He claims to have transferred decision-making to Eric and Don, Jr. Not sure whether that would qualify as a true blind trust since he obviously spoke with them regularly and had access to the financial data of the organization. Under a true blind trust the businesses would have been operated by a true independent trustee not family members (see the Carter peanut business as an example) and it would have been impossible for Trump to have played any role in their operation. Although Trump claimed that he didn't play a role in the operation of the companies he's not exactly credible and one of the reasons for the blind trust requirement which applies to every Executive Branch employee both career civil servants and political appointees even cabinet officers except the president is to avoid even the appearance of impropriety. As an example when Rex Tillerson became Secretary of State he had to divest holdings of and options to purchase Exxon-Mobile stock worth over $170 million; the same should have applied to Trump. One commentator even suggested that to avoid a conflict of interest the Trump organization should have been converted to a publicly-traded company through an IPO with the cash proceeds from the sale of stock going into a blind trust.

Lame. TCF was a highly rated charity and I'm pretty sure that representatives from Canada or Great Britain would never have any difficulty getting meetings with any US SoS.

Meanwhile, everything and anything was up for sale under Trump. Kushner got $2B. Trump got a $20M loan from North Korea. Ivanka got fast tracked Chinese patents. On and on it went.
