This isn’t specific to Ukraine, but to Trump and Putin.

Trump has a history of supporting and praising Putin/Russia. Trump even besmirched the U.S. to defend Putin. During Trump’s first term, when told “Putin is a killer”, Trump responded, “what do you think? Our country is so innocent?”
Recently (2/6) after speaking with Putin, Trump announced he wants to cut our military in half and then negotiate deals with Putin and China.

Russia’s gdp is lower than each of Germany, UK, France and on par with Canada. Those countries import more from the US than Russia ever will. But Trump is fostering animosity with our biggest trading partners and now wants to make a partner of Russia.

Meanwhile, Putin has committed war crimes. Bombing civilians in Syria. In Ukraine; flattened cities, and sowed the countryside with land mines on an industrial scale. Mass killings, rapes, systematic torture and kidnapped thousands of Ukrainian children. Under Putin’s leadership Russia sponsored attacks and murder in Europe. This list could go on and on. Putin is just evil.

“U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the two sides agreed broadly to pursue three goals: to restore staffing at their respective embassies in Washington and Moscow, to create a high-level team to support Ukraine peace talks and to explore closer relations and economic cooperation.”

Because Putin helps Trump get elected. It's a quid pro quo, similar to the $288 million Musk spent.

Certainly this is obvious by now?

Don't you mean to be asking: "how is this acceptable to anyone who remotely considers themselves loyal to America"?

Who knows. They've endorsed crime. And election collusion with Putin. Shocking as it is, they just don't care.

Trump just likes dictators and has nothing but contempt for democracy. What's so bad about that?

Trump admires Putin and has said so. He'd like to have Putin's kind of power here and his team is working feverishly to give that to him.

    We have cancer.

Yall remain obsessed with a thug on the other side of the tracks, on the other side of town...

...bitch about "appeasement", while championing appeasement of the fraudulent cancer that's eating us alive.

Chickenhawks alternately disparage Russia as weak and impoverished and also the most powerful and influential country in the world.

Now that Trump has blamed Ukraine for starting the war maybe he should write an historic article blaming Poland for starting World War II by inviting Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union to simultaneously invade the country.

There is actually a kernel of truth in your last sentence. Chamberlain may have been more of an unwitting instigator than an appeaser.

A huge amount of the terror in the world is committed and sponsored by the US. Genocide in Gaza. Support for Chechen terrorists in Russia. Backing al Qaeda and their friends in Syria and Libya. Helping farmers in Afghanistan irrigate and fertilize poppies so heroin can be exported to Iran, Russia, Europe and beyond. Starting the war in Ukraine to help split apart Russia and get rid of Putin. Supporting/aiding the creation of ISIS. Backing Marxist genocidal terrorists in Ethiopia (TPLF). Opposing populist movements and democracy around the world. Supporting the censorship of free speech abroad and at home. For starters.

Russians were the good guys in Syria, not the UD. America supported the hearchoppers and killers of Christians and Jews. The US bombed Christians in Serbia for 78 days.

You think the US doesn't assassinate foreign politicians?

Trump is a negotiator, when you are involved in negotiations you don't call the person you are negotiating with names. You do your best to praise him. Of course I don't expect you guys to get this, all you know how to do is trash talk.

"I’m not sure most Americans appreciate the monumental damage President Trump is doing to the post-World War II order that is the wellspring of American global leadership and affluence. He’s shattering it.

“We have Trump and his oligarchy of ignorant shoe shiners vandalizing the network of organizations, agreements and values — largely put in place by America since the Second World War — which have given most of us, including America, on the whole an extraordinary degree of peace and prosperity,” Chris Patten, the former British Conservative Party chairman and European foreign affairs chief, told me.

I have yet to hear a coherent answer from MAGA on why Trump is so cozy with Putin.

So many examples to point out, but overall, why?

    Partisanship is a bitch.

They just pretend it isn't true. Just like they ignore his criminality and the fact that he's a rapist.

What's fascinating is that while some Trump supporters are obviously self-created caricatures, shouting "fake news! bullDOGE! MAGA, Trump! " .....

..... some are seemingly pretty reasonable. I'm thinking of someone who is a moderator on one of the boards here, and has been witness to American politics for a while.

How does that person witness all the vile criminality, obvious lying and conflict of interest, thoroughly un-American activities.... which frequently even costs lives.. ....and now Trump clearly selling out to Putin...

.... but that person just pretends it's not happening. Just scrolls on past. Fascinating stuff, really.
