How dare Trump try to do something beneficial for We The People, like a temporary regulation, that helps all American consumers.

It's hilarious how the Dems here come to the defense of these big, greedy corporations. o_O:confused:

It is funny how you like to rant about socialism and communism, then switch to loving central planning as soon as Trump does it. Look at you arguing for the implementation of price controls against greedy corporations. Who is the Commie now?

    Regulations are not socialism.

Please, do us all a favor and define socialism... I would think that you know what socialism is.

Wow, so if somebody were to say not allow drilling for oil, which is a government regulation, what you are saying is that isn't socialism? How about implementing an individual mandate for health insurance, again, a government regulation. You have never called that government regulation socialism or communism before?

Lol... NOPE. Helping all the people and not just some of the people is NOT SOCIALISM. And still, that proposal by Trump is not even close to what socialism really is.

All people have credit cards and aren't shareholders of companies that issue credit cards?

Also, socialism explicitly, by definition, claims to help all of the people. It is an economic system in which the state appropriates private enterprise for the value of the people.

Credit cards are available to all people that qualify, yes. But by the same token, people that don't have them, or don't use them, ARE NOT BURDENED nor are they on the hook to pay for other people's money uses.

Do steel tariffs help all the people? Does new NAFTA help all the people?

I'm pretty sure that credit card companies would disagree. They make you apply for a reason. I'd be willing to bet they deny a lot more with a capped price.

    https://www.wsj.com/articles/consum...s-on-washing-machines-paper-finds-11555936276

President Trump’s tariffs on imported washing machines cost U.S. consumers about $1.5 billion a year, according to new research. The paper released Monday found the tariffs raised the price of washing machines by 12%.

But consumers paid the price, the research found. After taking into account the additional government revenue, each of those new jobs cost $817,000, the researchers found.

It helps the American steelworker, from losing their jobs. And that has been done by both sides of the aisle. Some call the protectionism, but it's never called socialism.

so, you've already abandoned the "all the people" angle? those welfare jobs cost the tax payer $650,000 each!!!

    • The Section 232 tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum raised the cost of production for manufacturers, reducing employment in those industries, raising prices for consumers, and hurting exports.
    • The jobs “saved” in the steel-producing industries from the tariffs came at a high cost to consumers, at roughly $650,000 per job saved according to the Peterson Institute for International Economics.
    • According to Tax Foundation estimates, repealing the Section 232 tariffs would increase long-run GDP by 0.02 percent and create more than 4,000 jobs.
    • Other estimates, such as those from economists Lydia Cox and Kadee Russ, suggest that job losses from the tariffs were as high as 75,000.

Stick to the point... You still have not proven socialism... You still cannot prove Trumps temporary interest rate levels on credit cards as socialist.

    Define socialism.

EZ. Socialism is gov ownership of decision rights. This action takes a decision right from the private column & puts it into the BIG GOV column. QED

What happens when China decides to cut steel exports to US? What critical industries should be protected?
