More likely that he considers it to be a dictatorial position over Congress.

I still struggle with the fact that Jim Jordan is a member of congress rather than in jail. And a representative for the party that claims to be against protecting groomers. Bizarro world.

I suspect he considers a rightful honor with no clear idea at all of what the speaker does.

My post from yesterday and the latest news.

Trump endorses Jim Jordan as next House speaker

The Orange God has endorsed the clown from Ohio and the odds are that Jim Jordan will be the next speaker and as a consequence there will almost certainly be a government shutdown within 60 days. I also think that an impeachment (not just an impeachment inquiry) of Joe Biden is a real possibility as are impeachments of Merrick Garland and Alejandro Mayorkas.

One potential plus for the Democrats is that Jordan based on his past performances is likely to be such a clown that an effective Democratic strategy for the 2024 election in a swing districts now held by Republicans would be to turn the election into a European style parliamentary election in which the focus is on the party rather than a typical American election in which the focus is on the individual candidate. In other words, a vote for a Republican would be a vote for Jordan even if the actual candidate is a more rational moderate. Just a guess if Jordan ends up as speaker a number of first term Republicans in the House representing districts that Biden won in 2020 can probably say good bye to their seats.

It will provide him with a lot of attention, which he craves. Plus the bull in a china shop effect.

Let's just follow this uncommonly loony fever dream logic through.

The SOTH is an actual job. It isn't just a title, or for show, or a barely-do-anything sloppy payback like Ambassador to Switzerland. It is so demanding, in fact, that the last several have experienced pleasantries like Max Public Shame fired after a few months (McC), husband beaten by rando nutjob political "enemy" and painted as so evil that J6ers are poor, unfortunate patriots and you know that because they wanted to kill her too (Pelosi), and multiples essentially erased from the party altogether (Boehner and Ryan -- did they get abducted by aliens?)

It requires always-on-the-clock, and it cannot be done by just stomping feet and holding breath.

THIS is the job that people who want to be considered serious humans say DJT is made for. It is like when you had that dream that you could fly and while you were in the dream, it was perfectly reasonable. Except these "serious people" just don't wake up. They continue to believe they can indeed fly, and what is goofy about it??

The only part that is even close to being reality is the other dumber than a box of hammers idea that he will not in fact be hired to do any job at all. He will just sit around in golf carts until Congress removes the chain of succession until it gets to him. THEN, he can be awarded the even tougher job, which he is even LESS qualified for than the one you gave him already knowing there is no way in hell he can do it.

THAT is the BEST of the competing ideas here. Like how blindly running across 8 lanes of freeway rush hour traffic is definitely the best idea when you consider the 10 and 12 lane options.

Trump Keys on Jim Jordan’s Wrestling History in Speaker Endorsement – Rolling Stone

“So much is learned from sports, and Jim was a master!” Trump added, before diving into a crash course on Jordan’s wrestling achievements from his high school years through college. The former president did include a throwaway line on Jordan’s position near the end of his endorsement. “He is STRONG on Crime, Borders, our Military/Vets, & 2nd Amendment,” Trump wrote.

Of course, Trump left out what is probably the defining story of Jordan’s wrestling career: accusations from former wrestlers that, as a wrestling coach at Ohio State University, Jordan turned a blind eye to allegations that team physician Richard Strauss was sexually abusing young men under his supervision.

Jordan denies ever having knowledge of abuse by Strauss. At least six students who wrestled under Jordan have stated the congressman knew of Strauss’ actions and failed to act upon them. In 2021, Jordan was named as a defendant in a class action lawsuit against the university and staff members accused of covering up the abuse.

The Ohio wrestling scandal, and the allegations against Jordan, became public in the summer of 2018, and cast a shadow over Jordan’s first attempt at securing the speakership as a replacement for former House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.). Days before Jordan announced his entrance into the race, which he would ultimately lose to McCarthy, Ryan publicly stated that he felt no need for Congress to launch an ethics investigation into the claims about Jordan’s tenure at Ohio State. Despite Ryan’s dismissal of an investigation, the growing scandal plagued coverage of Jordan’s run.

So sort of a throwback to a barbarian sacking Rome, sitting on a throne and proclaiming himself emperor with no true understanding of what that even meant.

The shrewdness is either Jordan gets it or it will be Scalise. They are both Trump loyalists. If the worst thing that happens from all this is Jim Jordan doesn't get the nod in lieu of Steve Scalise, this was a net landslide for the GOP and Trump.

House GOP picks Steve Scalise as speaker nominee, but unclear if he can get the votes to win gavel | CNN Politics

As of now, Scalise, who currently serves as House majority leader, lacks the 217 votes needed to be elected speaker in a floor vote and multiple Republicans have not committed to supporting him, signaling the potential for a drawn-out fight for the gavel. It’s not yet clear when the House will hold a speaker vote.

Until a speaker is elected, the House remains effectively paralyzed following McCarthy’s removal, an unprecedented situation that has taken on new urgency amid Israel’s war against Hamas. Raising the stakes further, the longer it takes Republicans to elect a new speaker, the less time lawmakers will have to try to avert a government shutdown with a funding deadline looming in mid-November.

Scalise won out over Rep. Jim Jordan in a closed-door vote by the House GOP conference to pick their speaker nominee on Wednesday. The nomination was a blow to former President Donald Trump, who endorsed Jordan, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee who has made a name for himself as a staunch Trump ally.

The question now is whether Scalise will be able to win over Republican holdouts, a major obstacle in his path to the gavel. House Republicans hold a narrow majority and Scalise can only afford to lose four GOP votes on the floor and still win the speakership.

I fully expect the tantrum caucus to gum up the works indefinitely regardless of the consequences for the American people or our allies. Ridiculous.

He is David Duke without the baggage. While the "without the baggage" is a dealbreaker for some folks, the David Duke aspect of it won him many votes.

INB4 it’s the Dems fault that the process is dragged out because they did not vote for Scalise.
