yes, it's political. he committed fraud to cover up a story to help him win an election. that is what qualifies as a political case. is every case agaisnt trump a political case in your world? the rape case? the business fraud case? the stolen documents cases?
It's not from the verdict. That crowd reaction shot has been around for years and gets edited with different videos. It's originally from a soccer match if memory serves correct.
I think you're confusing "more support" with the louder screams and cries you hear from his base the longer this stuff goes on... In other words: He's not getting *more* support from people who never supported him before b/c of this. It's that the people who already blindly support him just grow louder and more whiny. I know that's confusing.
Anyone who thinks Trump got knocked down, gosh all you have to do is look at the Fox headlines: Trump blasts rigged trial, Americans call verdict absolutely insane, experts say Trump's chances excellent on appeal, Trump says thousands of supporters greet him, Trump's lawyer says he constitutional rights were violated, Biden 'cashing in' with fundraising letter, RFK says it will backfire on Dems, legal analyst warns Dems not to celebrate, Pirro says America has gone over the cliff ... surprised there wasn't a "Louisianagator says he'll fight for Trump to the death ..."
I'm also fairly sure he can't purchase the gun he is going to need to shoot whoever he is going to shoot and still keep those votes he is going to keep after he shoots that person.
I think we should all just enjoy this emphatic victory against the leader of a coup against the United States of America. I mean....all we needed was one of 34 counts for him to be a convicted felon. Just one count guilty, and "Convicted felon" becomes part of Donald Trump's name the rest of his life. And this was 34 guilty counts. Guilty on ALL counts. It literally can't get any more emphatic than that. And this was always the toughest case to prove. This was always going to rely on testimony and witness credibility. And a jury of 12 impartial peers believed a porn star instead of the prior President of the United States. THAT'S how overwhelming, comprehensively condemning, and undeniable the evidence was. And the remaining 3 cases are slam dunks compared to this. Based on documents and tangible evidence that can't be impeached based on the jury perceptions of witnesses' character or credibility. Almost all the evidence is empirical and indisputable. None of Trump's stalling tactics have had anything to do with the substance of the other 3 trials - they've all been on procedural nit-picking and claiming that anyone elected or appointed President is permanently immune to all criminal prosecution. Almost everyone in the Trump inner circle have become convicted felons (or are currently on trial and on course to become convicted felons). Now so is Trump. He is scheduled to be sentenced 2 days before the Republican National Convention. And this has been the overwhelming likely outcome for over a year....and yet the GOP and republican voters just kept doubling down and running with the lies, and following this orange turd down the toilet drain. And now they WILL be nominating a convicted felon 34-times over as their presidential candidate. And he may in fact be in jail at the time. I don't see any way the republican party ever recovers from this. It can't possibly. It will have to go away and come back as something else. Only after all the remaining splintered pieces fight (as they have been doing for 4 years) over who will be the new party center. Maybe it comes back as 2 parties, maybe 3. But the GOP as we know it is over. And its demise was 100% earned.
I agree with you now that I think about it a little more. I have always thought that if Trump had an ounce of humility and he really wanted to do what was best for the country, then he would step down and hand pick his replacement. Pick someone with a spine who would be relentless with a personality like Ted Cruz or Trey Gowdy and hold people's feet to the fire for weaponizing the DOJ. That is what Trump should do in response to the conviction. He does not have the moral respect of the country to administrate justice. That is the issue. So pick someone that does. Maybe pick Tim Scott to do it, so the MSM would have to make accusations against someone who is black in their completely predictable 24/7 smear campaign against (fill in the blank) Republican candidate who is running for President. Hold people accountable.
I think that is why Machen gave them so much rope, wanted to guarantee that not even some maga judge like Canon could justify a judicial error issue
