Ted Cruz turns on Trump after disastrous tariff results. Not a smart man, but at least he can eventually see the writing on the wall.

After Trump trashes him and his wife, he'll get back in line like the spineless schmuck that he is.

Von der Leyen offers Trump 'zero-for-zero' tariffs deal on all industrial goods

The European Commission has offered the United States a deal to remove tariffs on all industrial goods as part of the trade negotiations, Ursula von der Leyen has said while stressing her intention to retaliate against Donald Trump's policies should talks fail.

Trump has announced a 20% across-the-board tariff on imports from the European Union, set to take effect on 9 April. Steel, aluminum and cars are subject to a separate 25% rate. In total, over €380 billion in EU-made products will be affected.
    .....................
The "zero-for-zero" deal was offered in the past "repeatedly" for the automotive sector, von der Leyen said, "but there was no adequate reaction" from Washington.

The Commission expanded the pitch to all industrial goods as talks intensified, a spokesperson said. It was put forward before Trump's announcement on 2 April.

Super clown. We need to have some kind of drinking game consequences it he publicly cites the great economist, Ron Vara.

"You know our country was the strongest from 1870 to 1913," Trump said. "You know why? It was all tariff-based. We had no income tax. Then in 1913, some genius came up with the idea of let's charge the people of our country, not foreign countries that are ripping off our country."

No matter how many times Donny says tariffs are charged to foreign countries, he will always be wrong.

It's hard to figure out. Does he really not know how tariffs work and no one can explain it to him? Or does he figure that if he keeps saying it, his supporters will keep believing him.
Then there's also the idea that if we buy products from any other country, then they're ripping us off.

Valid point. All the business leaders are asking for is a coherent strategy with a clear objective. There isnt one.

Trump's Tariffs Rationale Doesn't Make Sense
The administration wants the public to believe three different things, all of which are in tension. First, Trump’s tariffs are designed to launch a renaissance for American manufacturing replaced by overseas imports, bringing back long lost working class jobs and reinvigorating the blue collar middle class. Second, that the tariffs are meant to raise massive amounts of revenue to replace the progressive income tax. And third, Trump’s advisers and various online sycophants also claim that the purpose is to use the tariffs as pressure on foreign nations to cut bilateral trade deals with the U.S.

Revealed: White House officials 'frustrated' with 'most loathed member of Trump’s inner circle'

"The first is that he defeated efforts by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and National Economic Council Chair Kevin Hassett to limit the size and scope of Trump’s tariffs, which, if we’re lucky, will tip the United States economy into a recession. (If we’re unlucky, the tariffs will tip the global economy into a depression.)," the report said.

ALSO READ: 'Strongman vibes': Trump plans military parade amid market crashes and federal job slashes

"The second reason Trump officials hate Lutnick is that nobody thinks he actually believes the hooey he spouts in furtherance of a maximalist tariff policy. In an administration overflowing with sycophants, no nose is burrowed more deeply inside Trump’s gluteus maximus than Lutnick’s," it added.

The report further notes that until last week, no one was more reviled within the Trump White House than "special government employee" Elon Musk. However, after Musk faced a significant setback with his $25 million investment in the Wisconsin Supreme Court election, which shattered his image of invulnerability, that disdain shifted to Lutnick.

    Interesting comments.

Other than what’s in my guaranteed Ira (payouts a monthly minimum for life no matter what the market does) all of my other savings are in CDs.

At 73 and retired I don’t have a lot of time left and like knowing what my money is earning. If I were in my 60s it would be different.

Too much uncertainty for this boomer.

Cnbc says Trump has upped the China tariffs to 104% ..

And now the Nasdaq is negative for the day ...

Cramer was right for once, Trump just has to open his mouth, and the market falls.
