My natural instinct is to give people some credit for going into environments that are expected to be politically unfriendly. Having said that, he's already got his base locked up, and I'm not sure what the upside was in doing this event, especially if he was going to act like that.

Anyone saying Trump did fine during this event are the equivalent of people who said Biden did fine during the debate vs Trump.

 

Yeah, maybe I'm over-analyzing it. He has shown an ability to be relatively normal and even somewhat magnanimous at times, but it doesn't seem to last long - either due to his strategy or personality or both. Heck, he probably would have won in 2020 if he had simple dialed it back a notch or two. I know several Republicans who are tired of his shtick and believe he's hurting the party, but maybe he just can't help himself.

 

I think it's either very stupid or very dishonest. Harris did not just recently identifying as black.

He is 100% finished. Does anyone actually think he has a chance when November rolls around? Be honest with yourselves. He has no momentum and has peaked while Harris is just getting started. I would bet my house on it, that’s how confident I am.

 

Which is why I think he'll end up debating Harris. His narcissism will make him think he can hang with her on a debate stage. He thinks he's a good orator.

Yeah, I'm not sure that I would describe him as a good "orator" either, but I do think he has the charisma and skills to be an effective speaker when he's not creating needless problems for himself. I hope Kamala doesn't make the mistake of underestimating him, and I'm saying that sincerely.
