WaPo with a succinct summary of Trump's first two weeks. "None of this is normal. Little of it is legal. All of it is misguided."

No president in history has caused more damage to the nation more quickly. As we enter Week 3 of President Donald Trump’s second term, the chaos and disruption of his first look quaint by comparison. The country survived Trump 1.0. Now, it faces a real threat that the harm he inflicts during his second term will be irreparable. The United States’ standing in the world, its ability to keep the country safe, the federal government’s fundamental capacity to operate effectively — all of these will take years to repair, if that can be achieved at all.

This column will concentrate on the third piece of that trifecta: efforts to undermine the basic functioning of government. A unifying theme of much of Trump’s activity since Jan. 20 has been his unrelenting and broadscale assault on the federal workforce. In his first term, Trump railed about what he termed the “deep state” and its seeming ability to frustrate his plans. In his second, he has unleashed a no-holds-barred attack on career employees — one designed to punish those who dared to counter him or his allies, to oust or neuter those with years of expertise, and to set the stage for a new spoils system, replacing seasoned, nonpartisan career workers with compliant loyalists.

None of this is normal. Little of it is legal. All of it is misguided, and that’s a mild term. The damage to the federal workforce is incalculable. Years of expertise down the drain. The ability to recruit talented employees: same.

Apparently 2027 is the projected year. Heard there is a minority report for 2025. Perhaps why the carving up of the world is happening now.

they are just waiting for a force enforcing court orders confront a force enforcing executive actions. say washington DC police trying to take control of the treasury building to allow fired officials access to the system and national guard brought in by trump trying to stop them.

MAGA is so stupid not to see that the division only benefits our enemies. it is exactly what our enemies want to see

I think they have looked at history and decided to use the long game, with the strategy to make everything possible for us to destroy ourselves from within. Seems to be working.

this goes back to Hillary claiming Putin's election was rigged.
he swore then that he would undermine the confidence in US elections. Along came the perfect stooge, one he already did massive amounts of business with through his subordinates. flatter him, feed his machine, force the propaganda, encourage the hate and division. djt helped him beyond his wildest dreams. Murdoch jumped on board for the cash to be made and the misinformed public, fed by hate and misinformation, are on the verge of causing a major constitutional crisis

what happens when the potus refuses to listen to the supremes and the senate refuses to impeach him?

Nobody ever disagreed that Trump supporters are tolerant of criminality.

You're not making a new point with this post.

A president's approval rating during his first month or even his first two or three months is in no way indicative of what is approval rating will be a year or more into his presidency. One example:
    Jimmy Carter Retrospective
Once Trump tanks the economy and it's a virtual certainty that he will, his approval ratings will follow.

another day, another illegal act blocked by a judge

who know being a dictator could be so hard? it's all so unfair, so very very unfair. activist liberal judges appointed by Soros and Hunter, so unfair. It was these kinds of judges that made me ahve to aprdon my proud boys. I know I can do it again, part of my presidential duties, if they were to accidentally injure one of these activist judges. That would be a terrible thing, wouldn't it, to have to pardon someone for being targeted while lawfully protesting outside a judges home at 256 riverside drive, arlington virgina or picket their kids school at 689 longwater blvd. That would be unfair, so very very unfair. Not announcing me as the most ethical potus ever is negligence and malfeasance combined. snd he should declare the Biden crime family totally corrupt, so very very corrupt, the whole family...just corrupt, lots of good people say so

so do I get the speechwriter job or not?

    Judge to Trump-terminated ethics watchdog: You’re un-fired

A federal judge reined in President Donald Trump’s firing spree Monday, ruling that a federal ethics watchdog can return to his job for at least a few days while the judge receives more detailed legal arguments about the case. Judge Amy Berman Jackson issued the reprieve to Special Counsel Hampton Dellinger, after he sued to contest the Friday night email he received from the White House indicating he’d been dismissed from his position. Dellinger, an appointee of President Joe Biden, is just one of various officials across the government whom Trump has tried to fire in recent days. Some of them are covered by federal statutes that limit the president’s authority to dismiss them.
Although his title is special counsel, Dellinger’s position is different from the more prominent special counsels who prosecute politically sensitive cases for the Justice Department. Rather, Dellinger leads an independent federal agency that handles whistleblower issues and complaints about violations of the Hatch Act, which limits political activity by government employees.

Trump must allow Dellinger to continue to have “access” to the agency’s resources and cannot “recognize the authority of any other person as Special Counsel” while the order remains in effect, Jackson wrote.

Jackson, an appointee of President Barack Obama, issued what she called an “administrative stay” restoring Dellinger to his post through Thursday night. In her brief order, she noted that he was confirmed by the Senate, is in the midst of a five-year term and that federal law dictates he "may be removed by the President only for inefficiency, neglect of duty, or malfeasance.”

The Justice Department quickly appealed Jackson’s order Monday night. Jackson said she’d refrain from a formal ruling on Dellinger’s request for a temporary restraining order until the Justice Department submits written arguments in the case, which will be due by noon Tuesday.
