Um, the thread is about a Trump rally. So talking about him on this thread is not really whataboutery.
Do you have any thoughts about the actual subject of the thread?

Unless he is convicted of a real crime (actually a possibility) Trump will not be jailed. No one has suggested jailing Trump for his clown shows unless they can be linked with real crimes like an attack on the Capitol to prevent a Constitutional process. The comment also seems somewhat ironic coming from someone who apparently supports a certain Dear Leader whose critics, potential critics and political opponents are apparently prone to committing suicide or are unusually susceptible to poisoning from nerve agents or radioactive substances.

If you think Trump will ever spend even an hour in jail you are a complete and total moron. Political elites and billionaires do not follow the same rules as normal everyday folks. Even if they had him admit to everything he’s accused of it would not matter one bit. This is political theater much like with Hillary Clinton. The Clinton’s, Trumps, Bush’s, Kennedy’s and a bunch more are simply untouchable. Do yourselves a favor and just make peace with it.

Most of the Trump rubes here claim they've never heard of QAnon. Maybe it's like Fight Club -- first rule of QAnon... don't talk about QAnon.

I think it's good to be fair to both sides - understanding, for example, why people voted for Trump, that many of his actual policy positions are mainstream, etc. And it's also a good thing when people call out their own side. But there's some "both sides" commentary, even on the left, that I think suggests a legal or moral equivalence with what is happening with the major parties on a mass scale. Bill Maher is a prime example to me. He will attack Trump, of course, and will probably say the right is worse. But he spends a lot of time doing things like but going on a tirade about a comment made by someone none of us has ever heard of, as if that's the other side of the coin to what's being said and done by the former president who is still the leader of the party and influencing races all over the country.

Agree. We're always going to have folks who haven't been around long enough to understand this. They get very tiring to listen to once you understand how things work, whether or not you want to see the particular dynasty in question to crumble.

The only folks talking about Qanon are libs. I suppose I could google it but I don’t have a clue otherwise if this qanon is a chat group, some kind of obscure Reddit group (I don’t Reddit either), or some political action fundraiser. You guys act like it’s the freaking Lion’s club that meets weekly in the community.

Lunatic leader wanting others to commit violence for him marries up to lunatic fringe looking for reason to commit violence (an order from MY president). What could possibly go wrong?

Are we down to Qanon since Proud boys are out?

    wow..

Trump begins openly embracing and amplifying false fringe QAnon conspiracy theory

After winking at QAnon for years, Donald Trump is overtly embracing the baseless conspiracy theory, even as the number of frightening real-world events linked to it grows.

On Tuesday, using his Truth Social platform, the Republican former president reposted an image of himself wearing a Q lapel pin overlaid with the words "The Storm is Coming." In QAnon lore, the "storm" refers to Trump's final victory, when supposedly he will regain power and his opponents will be tried, and potentially executed, on live television.

As Trump contemplates another run for the presidency and has become increasingly assertive in the Republican primary process during the midterm elections, his actions show that far from distancing himself from the political fringe, he is welcoming it.

I think this fits with my previous model of Trump’s behavior: he wants to be adored above all. Hence, there are “good people on both sides” and showing resistance to criticizing the proud boys. If QAnon folks are the ones that love him, he will cater those folks.

My understanding it is We Are the World by Micheal Jackson and Lionel Richie. There is probably other references to it but wading through all the hoopla about the Ohio rally and everyone gloming on to the mantra good luck in getting a definitive answer to that question. For now I'll go with this news article and I have to wonder what these pundits actually believe they heard in the background. They must be tone deaf in my opinion.

How a Michael Jackson song became the bizarre anthem to the QAnon JFK Jr cult movement
More than 100 QAnon supporters gathered at the Dealey Plaza in Texas, the site of former president John F Kennedy’s assassination, on Monday with the hope that his deceased son John F Kennedy Jr will return.

And while they waited, they sang “We Are the World”, a song written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie in 1985.

They showed up at a Trump rally, so I’m guessing in addition to “the libs” reporting on their presence, this cult group continues to talk amongst themselves as well.

With all the imagery of QANON supporters at Trump rallies, at the 1/6 insurrection, it seems rather strange for anyone to plead ignorance as to their existence. Surely anyone in FL has likely even randomly seen such a person out on the roads pledging their allegiance to this cult. I’ve seen a handful of bumper stickers and 1 dude flying a bunch of flags on his truck (not just the normal Trump or let’s go Brandon flag, but a QANON flag along with his Trump-ish flags). I don’t pretend to understand what is driving these crazies as they seem to jump right from one theory to another, and different offshoots seem to have their own “religion” within the cult (such as those hundreds of yah00’s who spent time waiting for the resurrection of JFK in Dallas). Some of the crazy is Jonestown level. Keep your head in the sand if you wish. Personally I think (hope) they’ve passed their peak, i would have said that, but if Trump is openly embracing these lunatics who knows.

Two possibilities. Trump supporters who claim not to have heard of QAnon are either really ignorant, or they are lying.

We can assume the guy who has for years now been predictably responding to posts about QANON influence on MAGA politics with “never heard of them” is probably the latter, unless we are dealing an Alzheimer’s sufferer.

Sounds like the exact same overblown hysteria the right used to cry about with Antifa.

It’s funny…for some folks who have claimed to never heard of QAnon, they sure do echo all of their talking points.

Same could be said about the left and antifa but….I know better. Even the real left lunatics on this board that believe in the qanon boogy man are not at all mainstream democrats. They are simply victims of the media. If they’d crawl out of their mothers basement once in a while maybe crack a non ipa beer or perhaps have relations with a female without paying it would become clear that they are being manipulated. There is no vast conspiracy mostly because the very ones that you’d need to conspire together can’t do because they are way too self absorbed. This Jan 6 nonsense was nothing but a bunch of riled up morons bitching because they lost. There was never any threat to the order of this country much less democracy as a whole. It’s just plain sad to think otherwise.
