Murdoch's New York Post publishes scathing critique of Donald Trump - CNN “One of Donald Trump's favorite newspapers — controlled by his media ally Rupert Murdoch — says Trump is "unworthy to be this country's chief executive again." “It was published online on Friday evening, around the same time another Murdoch publication, the Wall Street Journal, also published an editorial harshly critiquing the former president. “Both newspapers have been noticeably more critical of Trump than Murdoch's biggest megaphone of all, the Fox News Channel, though close viewers have also picked up on some signs that Fox might be souring on Trump. “While the editorial writers have remained skeptical of the House committee and critical of the lack of witness cross-examination, they wrote the following on Friday, after the second prime time hearing: "No matter your views of the Jan. 6 special committee, the facts it is laying out in hearings are sobering. The most horrifying to date came Thursday in a hearing on President Trump's conduct as the riot raged and he sat watching TV, posting inflammatory tweets and refusing to send help." Can you believe they have actually watched the hearings!? Damn RINO’s!
The big money in the party knows he is an albatross at this point. They have to slay this dragon before he tanks their golden opportunity in 2024. Heck they probably would be better off in the upcoming midterms if he just went away but it’s too late for that. The absolute best thing for dems would be if he announced a presidential run soon.
Murdoch's New York Post and Wall Street Journal are down on Trump. How influential. So why isn't Murdoch's FoxNews down on Trump? Because of money-making superstars like Tucker Carlson, that's why. And Murdoch needs that money.
No, not everyone. It would be the worst thing for him (not to mention all his political sycophants who dream of positions in an American dictatorship). How would he get the attention he craves if he doesn't run? He must be going crazy (well, he's already that) at Mar-a-Lago. And if he doesn't run, how can he steal the 2024 election? He will know how to do it next time without sending a mob to invade Capitol Hill. In 2024 electoral votes will be rejected as needed by state legislatures without Trump lifting a finger for a second, much less for 187 minutes. That's votes legally rejected by state laws already designed by Republicans for the purpose. So I would say that if he runs, he will likely be a shoo-in. If the shoo fits, why not wear it?
I have been trying to tell you guys. I even started a thread a while back showing you the big money is starting to bail on him.
I disagree. Trump is about the only Republican nominee that the Democrats can defeat in 2024. With the dyfunction, disorganization and lack of cohesive messaging that appeals to, frankly anyone coming from the Democrats, the Republicans could literally run their elephant mascot and win the presidency.
I disagree. Trump has a lot of support, and still has a very good chance of being elected. The average Republican doesn’t care about 1/6, and would take Trump over any Democrat.
They would take Trump over any Democrat, even at the expense of Democracy. That’s how much they hate Democrats.
I agree, but I have little hope for the Republicans and ZERO hope for the Democrats. Money politics has crushed cetrists, rational and thoughtful people that used to have a place on both sides of the aisle. Once the Supreme Court said unlimited campaign bribery was acceptable, there was no turning back.
It took them 18 months to acknowledge that attempting to overthrow our democracy is a bad thing? Well, good for them …. I guess. If there are any real old school power brokers in the GOP, I imagine they’d like trump to disappear. But he still seems to have the rank and file in his pocket.
Big money didn't support Trump during the Republican primaries in 2016, it only gravitated to Trump once he became the party's presumptive and later actual nominee. While it's always helpful Trump really doesn't need contributions from large donors to fund a campaign. Although his situation can always change he's demonstrated that he is still very successful at conning enough small donors to contribute to his personal superpac to raise a significant amount of cash. A reminder of Trump's skill at doing so. Trump Directed $250 Million in Donations to Leadership PAC Getting back to the subject of this thread, how many Trump supporters, the folks who attend his MAGA rallies and paste his bumper stickers to their vehicles read the Wall Street Journal or even the New York Post? They still rely on Fox (not really) News, the one Murdoch owned media outlet still supporting Trump for their "news", not to mention OAN, Newsmax along with right-wing talk radio and websites all of which are also continuing to support Trump and his big lie. If he decides to run as seems likely Trump would still have to be considered the favorite for his party's nomination and even if he loses he has the potential to do irreparable harm to the party given that based on his past behavior if the Donald loses the nomination he would not graciously accept defeat and endorse the nominee most likely Ron DeSantis. The odds are that he would run as an independent or third-party candidate and even if he doesn't go quite that far a losing Trump would almost certainly claim that the nomination was stolen from him implicitly encouraging his hardcore supporters to stay home or support another third party candidate.
He is good at grifting it’s from the common man but it’s obviously easier with the entire apparatus behind him. Especially media messaging.
he can’t carry moderates. Even Biden at 37% approval polls better than trump. People hate him that much. I’ll never rule it out but it’s the only chance I think dems have right now.
