But, you can't get season tickets without paying the assigned booster "donation" fee for the section. I didn't really hesitate to renew my tickets, but, there is a limit to this insanity. The transfer portal and NIL have been very effective at destroying college football very quickly. So many here argued for it, and, they're getting exactly what they asked for. College football is about fan loyalty to a team and its players. The players have abandoned that concept for quick money. Can't say that I would do any different in their shoes, but, it might turn around and bite them in the long run.
Your limits appear to be more tolerant than mine. I'm not going to decide today. I’ll let the dust settle and decide in the Spring. I guess if they can call my bluff by telling me I can’t sit in the same seats and I folded then they would correctly not take me seriously. If enough fans cancelled there would be a reaction. The only way the UAA reacts to pressure is if it hits them squarely in the wallet.
You're probably acting more reasonably than I am. I felt like I wasn't going to let the situation punish me and my fun, so I bought in before I changed my mind. But, if all the fun dwindles away next season, then...... the resale market for a few games a year is the first downsizing step.
There is a reason why colleges can easily have 90,000 to 100,000 seat stadiums and NFL stadiums are smaller. NIL, and transfer portal have almost totally destroyed that reason. What we are watching is not UF implode, it’s college athletics implode. We’re just getting it earlier than some.
Ohio State and the others you reference will weather the immediate storm better. But they will get damaged/destroyed by it sooner rather than later.
Not at all surprised….his brother craps on the gators every game. watching many of the game threads this year, not once did I see anyone complaining about ETN getting too many carries. Kid was criminally underused.
Got my email yesterday about football season tickets and then this news hit. Timing with this program is absurdly bad on and off the field.
That is your opinion. Unfortunately we don't have the luxury of wait and you will see. You see Alabama slowing down? UGA? I certainly don't. Even Ohio State. Don't see many players portal'ing out of LSU. At least that are stars.
I feel like any 1st or 2nd string player that transfers out without an injury or some other notable reason, should not be welcome back to the university and football program/facilities after they are done with the other college or NFL. That "Gator 4 Life" stuff really is stupid. If you want to get all the benefits of going to Florida and connections with alumni and awesome facilities... well, you gotta stick it out.
He can't block! You can't have a running back where when they are in the game, it's 100% a run play! I saw one play, I think Missouri (one of the last three) where Etienne went to block the defensive end and literally tackled air. He didn't even get a hand on him, let alone stop him. Don't get me wrong, I was really excited about Etienne, upset we're losing him because I think he could learn to be a complete back and a really great one, but as of now, he is one-dimensional. I'll be curious to see how the new team uses him for exclusively run plays and not telegram to the other team exactly what they are doing when they see Etienne come into the game. I think he's making a mistake unless it's about a quick paycheck.
Nobody sits anymore unless you leave in the middle of the season. It's a fricking free-for-all. But, transferring every year to a different school, then leaving school early for the Anthem Kneelers League is good for education, right? Yes, the do-gooder mob has created a wonderful situation.
