I wonder where he will end up. Hopefully not f$u or uga. Looking for a silver lining here and cannot find one. C'est La vie......

Apparently he didn't spend enough time on the ol' swamp gas for people to tell him it's OK to lose and he just needs to be patient.

Here's a link to the OSU Portal losses, it doesn't seem like a lot of starters, but a lot of "depth" players, the QB being an exception.
Ohio State football 2023-2024 transfer portal tracker

The death of college football accelerated when the Playoffs went to a pay service and not a national broadcast. When that happened I told my self it wasn't going to end well and it hasn't.

Is he really going to be the difference between wins and losses next year? Not happy about losing him, but I don't think so. People act like Montrell sucks. He doesn't. Put him in as a 3 down bell cow running back, set it and forget it. I'm perfectly fine with that. I think it's better for the team to get the RB controversy out of the way. Montrell will be more at ease and play freer knowing he's not getting yanked out of the game next series or if ETN makes a good play. This is addition by subtraction whether we all see it or not.

Florida seems to always be one step behind the top programs going back to Urban Meyer's run. Back then it was facilities, get the facilities straight and now UF seems to be one step behind in NIL.

It's going to be hard for any coach to get ahead when Florida is playing catch up.

Don't try stopping a good narrative with facts, it won't go anywhere. OSU and UF are identical programs going through identical problems. There is no way that top 5 program is going to replace those players with talent as good or better than what left.

Serious note, McCord was not good, no matter how many times people say he was a 5*. Go ask any OSU fan their thoughts on his performance this year.

First remotely negative post I've made, although I previously mentioned (before he announced the transfer) that he has trouble blocking. Not sure why everyone is defending him on pass protection. Even Gator County posted an article in mid-November that said:
“I mean I’d say very difficult being in the SEC,” Etienne said on pass protection at the collegiate level. “I’d say it’s a lot harder for me because I didn’t do it a lot in high school. So it’s not something that I came into college knowing how to do. We ran a split back [in high school], so we just give the ball and go every play, and we didn’t throw much. So coming into college, every linebacker is 240, 250 plus, and I’m 5-8, 200. It’s a lot more detailed now, you just have to stay focused and keep working at protecting your craft.”

Silver lining is RB is the least of our concerns.

Yep. Funny how I haven't seen a single poster refer to Ricky as a "mercenary." Every player that leaves is a gator hatin' loser, but the ones we add are the good old boys who know about the true heart and passion of college football.

Receiving TE and RB are not going to do much other than briefly slow down unaccounted lineman. Certainly one could look at lack of development across the board. One of the reasons a lot of folks were wanting more of a spread, to help the QB and line with their reads. Maybe a 240lb fullback.

    E ticket ride for sure

McCord was the weak link on an otherwise very strong team, so I'm not surprised he left.

Yes sir. He’s nice but we have backs. We need to spend that money elsewhere anyway. 25 when DJ is ready, ET would be gone anyway.

I'm actually relieved that it's over. We've been nailbiting about his departure since the middle of last season. Going forward, we will rally around Montrell Johnson Jr. and play good football.
