Why doesn't a dark blue state, one where pubs/cons cannot veto, adopt the lessons of our betters?

The VAT in Finland is 24% and the income tax is slightly higher than here. Why doesn't New York, 4% sales tax, jack up their taxes and implement these social programs. The conservatives don't have the votes to stop them. They could even start with the most popular social programs. After people grew more happy and fulfilled they could implement a new one until everyone was blissfully. When everyone realized how enlightened they are the population shift would reverse. People would gladly pay 50% (national state income and state sales tax combined ) of their income in taxes as is typical in European socialist countries for the shared social benefits. Red states would have to join them or become irrelevant.

Is there some law that prohibits New York, California, Hawaii from raising their state income and or sales tax? I assume it would take some time to get to Finnish levels but baby steps. You have to start.

If this is what happiness looks like, show us wise leaders. Deliver us from our ignorance. Why are dems withholding happiness from the masses? It is their power to deliver in dark blue states.

It's also notable that he did a complete 180 regarding transgender persons since being anti-trans has become a litmus test in the theocratic authoritarian Republican Party that he is largely responsible for creating and considering the number of threads on transgender persons that you have started it seems that you are afflicted with the other form of TDS (Transgender Derangement Syndrome). Keeping in mind that Trump is the likely Republican presidential nominee in 2024 and could actually become president again, I would say that what you consider my obsession with Trump makes much more sense than your apparent obsession concerning individuals who represent around one percent of the population.
