Just skill position recruiting at MSU was horrible. Not that it was good under any coach there previously.

6th round selected TE in 2018 who is still in the NFL. My question is what was Billy Gonzalez doing to earn his recruiting pay? I still remember when he passed on a Gulf Breeze, Florida WR who ended up at Stanford and then proceeded to have an outstanding NFL career, think with Seattle.

Billy G has put 6 WRs in the NFL during the last 2 years. Very good WR coach.

good question bc he is a verrrry good WR coach but as a recruiter, he’s solid as best.

Doug Baldwin is who you’re referring to

Yes, it was Doug Baldwin. With just a little love, he could have been talked into UF.

Mississippi State isn't going to get the players Florida gets, but zero WRs to the NFL in 9 years is hard to understand with Mullen and Gonzalez recruiting.

That's odd considering they play totally different positions

But boy does he get the most out of his talent. WR seems to be the position that surprises us the most each year which says alot about coach Gonzales. Recruiting chops be damned he consistently produces pretty good WRs's

Right.... Because AH didn't have any success here while Tebow was qb...

I think you can add Ingram in there though he was never the same after he tore up his knee. There was also a guy at msu that was all sec. Neither as good as Pitts or AH but better than anything Kirby has produced at uga.

Why does that matter? He's the one running the offense and deciding who gets the ball and how the TE is utilized under both scenarios.

it matters because I’m linking it to back to recruiting. I dont feel like dragging Mullen’s recruiting into this thread so I’ll just leave it at that

That there is a sad story and a pathetic example of football privilege. It's bad enough that athletes don't have to meet the same standard as normal students, but, then they go and haul their academically underperforming friends in, too, robbing good students of entry into the school of their choice. Terrible.

well, in the announcement he said he would be playing WR for Georgia, not tight end. Yes, he is supposedly going to play WR not tight end.

Exactly my point...Kirby couldn’t sell him being a tight end at Georgia since he would basically be a glorified offensive lineman...so instead he sold him being wide receiver...like I said I hope he enjoys run blocking cause that’s what he will be doing most of the time.
