Arik Gilbert playing WR at UGALY won't make him Kyle Pitts 2.0. Are the poodles thin at WR coming into 2021? Could be that Gilbert is a patch for a hole in the offense.

He will get good at what every tight end gets good at in Georgia....BLOCKING for the running backs. Maybe a couple times a game he gets a pass thrown his way. In the end if they really want to sell him on being involved in the passing game they might want to tell him he will be a wide receiver....oh wait....

Being objective, he probably sees more passes coming his way from JT Daniels, a traditional drop-back QB, than from Emory Jones, a DT QB who runs the ball nearly every time he is put in the game. If Kyle Trask returned for an extra year, maybe UF would have looked a lot more desirable.

Timmy ran slot as a backup. Heisman the next year with plenty of passes. That’s not it.

That was Emory's role to come in for running plays the past two years. He is by no means as refined a passer as Trask was, but Mullen isn't switching to the triple option. They are still going to throw the ball and utilize the TE. Emory will provide a better running threat at QB, but that will just serve to make the offense more dynamic.

Very true. My nephew is friends with a top-two ranked player (for his position) in the country. UGA is recruiting him hard (as are the Gators). Story I was told is that he told Smart he would not be attending UGA (the in-state school, BTW) because he wants to attend the same school as two of his (non-player) buddies, and neither were accepted into UGA. Within a week both of those dudes received acceptance letters in the mail. So, these two HS students, who did not qualify, took the places of two prospective kids who did qualify.

Ill wait to see how refined Emory is with an open playbook. It almost seems as if he handled the freshman Tebow role and we all know how Tebow got `"refined" real quick. Trask was not "refined" with no high school starts and I cringed in his early games before he developed. Im betting Mullen hasnt asked Emory to open the playbook but we shall see this year.

I believe that only if AG plays receiver. The last two OC of Georgia have shown no tendency to regularly use their highly rated TE as Mullen has.

i mean as a HC, outside of Pitts, we can’t name one formidable TE Mullen has had if we’re being objective

True. Hernandez played a lot of HB. But that is kind of like saying UF has no history with RB except for that Emmitt dude.

true. UGA has underutilized their TE’s as well recently but we know WHY (and how) Gilbert ended up at UGA lol
