This year will be the first of those players you speak of that will be coming into their third year. Do you have a crystal ball or just predicting failure.

No, you keep misreading my posts to fit your narrative.

I neither have a crystal ball, nor am I predicting failure man....and you're bright enough to know that. I have my opinion, you have yours - all good.

I think player development has been abysmal - but that might change since we have some new coaches, and that can make all the difference in the world. I hope it does!

But my opinion of the current state of the program is not very high. I think a huge part of the season hinges on many sophomore leaps, and that's not a good formula to rely on with our crazy schedule.

    Cheers.

You said 3-5 years? Well this is the third year coming up where we could see this development and there’s a very small group to watch.

That's not what I said. I said take a 3rd year player and develop him by year 5...That is 2 years in a system....and 5 years out of high school. Mertz is an example of that general point....Once someone is "older", a good/strong system doesn't need too much time to develop them. We did good with Mertz, and I suspect he'll take another step forward this upcoming season, with what should be an improved O-line.

The other side of the spectrum (no development) is loaded with examples. I hope that changes this season!

That is all I am saying.

Yes, go gators. I’m just trying to understand what the hell you’re talking about. If you’re not talking about recruits or transfers, you can only be talking about the handful of players that are left over from Mullen

Would have to go outside of the SEC, I believe.

I'm not sure what you're saying either. There are several examples of players coming here and improving their play, with some having the best years of their college career. over the last 2 seasons or left here rated better than when they got here.

Graham Mertz just had his best season ever and that was after starting at Wisconsin every year since he was a freshman. Ricky Pearsall same thing. He came here and made himself some money playing for CBN.

Say what you will, but CBN gave AR the starting QB job after having only stared 1 game, with minimal playing time in his 2 prior years, and he got drafted 4th.

Montrell Johnson was a relatively unknown HS player and now, after playing for CBN he is a strong, complete starting SEC RB.

ETN wasn't even a consensus 4 star RB on all 4 recruiting sites, he was rated lower than both treyaun Webb and Khanen Daniels were, but after 2 seasons with CBN, he left here a highly sought after and one of the top rated transfer players in the portal.

Jake slaughter got thrown into the fire at center due to injuries, making his 1st start at college level and ended the season grading out as one of the best rated centers.

Austin Barber is a damn fine offensive lineman who has gotten better each year.

we Also got One of the best (top 5) punters in the country,

CBN hasn't had a ton of seniors or graduating JR,'s yet but what he has had is a influx of young talent. So what did he do with it? In one season he Had 4 true freshman all Americans With a slew of other highly talented youngins.

After only 2 seasons, one season of which mostly filled with underclassmen, its kind-of hard to say this Staff isn't developing kids when there are plenty of example of many different levels of development up and down the roster.

Figures, in a CFB world of basically no transfer rules,(or any remaining rules at all for that matter) we always find a way to still get hamstrung by rules.

First off, all that growth you mentioned got us 5 wins. 5, man. I am assessing things by the standards of being relevant again in the SEC east....not 5 wins.

I would have agreed with most of what you wrote, say, 12 months ago. It's in my nature to find a tiny bit of positive and find all the ways that we can overachieve....But my position on this staff has completely changed for the worse.

I could go on and on with this topic, but it is silly to do that on a gator board.....But in general, I see it very differently as you stated. All good...HOPE I'M WRONG!

It's interesting watching these kids bounce from one program to the next. I remember wanting Bear but UGA signed him and then a year later he transfers to USC. And now he's in the portal again.

Completely unrelated - this weekend I found out how much some players make in NIL deals in a P5 program. Players that are only known by their own fan base (not stars on a regional or national level) but contribute to their team, make $12-18k per month. Someone like Hayden Hansen.

I just assumed those guys made $50-75k...not $150-200k.

seen posts that he will be going to Miami. That would suck since he is pretty good, on the rise, and we play them.

(actually, he wasn’t named but I read a USC d linemen jumping to Miami)
