No one is a 5 star once the season starts. You either were all conference performer or you were not. Either an All-American first, second or third team or you’re not. No Gators on All-American 1st - 3rd teams this past year. No first round draft choices. Highlights the lack of talent amongst upper class man

IGWT - Does this post support the concerns of the UF fan base that the talent was "just not there" and Napier needs the time to build up the talent on the roster?
    It sure seems like it.

We certainly don’t have an impressive lineup coming back. New guys will be heavily leaned on. That’s called a rebuild.

ive been saying this since Napier arrived - our roster is subpar.

But at what point is it due to player development? Not sure anyone on this board knows, but I refuse to believe we’ve missed on nearly every player on the roster (few/no bonafide all sec players on 85 man roster)…so lack of player develop is without question an issue, we just don’t know to what extent.

Development takes time. His first recruit will be a junior.

Takes time for true freshmen. But if player development was elite, then you take a 3rd year Sophomore and guide him to reach his potential his 5th year in the program.

Bottom line: There are FAR more examples of underachievement than overachievement in the program. And it's not even close.

We don’t have any third year sophomores until the up coming season. This year development should show if it’s going to.

Not what I said. Go back to the roster when CBN started and tell me more than 2-3 players that are much better now.

Feel free to eliminate true freshmen from that list since you think it takes 3 years to improve....Just select the more experienced guys from that moment and let me know who's much better after 24 months in the program.

It's not a list that inspires, ya know.

Shemar class has to be productive. It’s a small class but that’s all he’s got. Transfers better hit this year. Last years transfers while some were productive was mainly disappointing

Starting RB, QB, WR and two OL were starters on Offense. The three skill position players were very effective and we would have been in trouble without these 3 players. The OL as a whole did not play up to standard. The DL had Kimber as partial year starter at CB, Houston and Ohio State LBs that were underwhelming, and a DT that performed at an acceptable or serviceable level. Banks was in rotation. Moten was somewhat invisible. Bowman ineffective as a WR. Defensive transfers from portal could have been better. Certainly FSU transfers from the portal were more effective overall. They have several that will be drafted in the top 2-3 rounds

About what I was thinking, but if you’re talking about Pearsol, he came the year before didn’t he?

^^^ Yes, the benefit of transfers for multiple years, which is something Billy seems to look for as opposed to one and dones. Was just looking at the effectiveness of all the transfers last year. Micah is gone but had another year of eligibility. Ricky headed to NFL and will likely be the highest drafted Gator (round 2 or 3?). The OSU LB graduated. Kimber transferred with another year of eligibility. Bowman transferred with eligibility. All the other transfers are back to do it again for UF for year 2 or 3 for the 2 that followed from Cajuns

not sure if relevant to your point but Ricky, Bowman, and Kimber were all here multiple years (Kimber came in under Mullen). So even though gone they were here 2 or more seasons.

The SMU OC left to join Diaz at Duke. Don’t think that caused player to enter portal. Likely NIL agent found him some money. Will be interesting to see where he lands. Timing suggests some program was doing some stealth recruiting of starters at other programs. USC is rumored to do that. Washington and Bama had outflows and need transfers. Ole Miss already took the two starting OTs from Washington so can likely be ruled out. Perhaps TAM?

IGWT posted: Ole Miss already took the two starting OTs from Washington.

Question: Do you think this will continue to be acceptable in future? Or do you expect the upcoming
"regulations" that many are predicting, would create a tampering clause of some sort to prevent this from
happenning wholesale every year in the portal?

    Thx in advance.
