Whether he would have had the same success at UF than he had at Pitt isn't even a concern to me because of what he was replaced with....Miguel Mitchell. At the time DM transferred, we weren't overly concerned because MM seemingly passed him up late in the 2022 season and should SOME promise, but in retrospect, we went with the wrong safety
In retrospect I don't think either guy was a very good option.....but MM definitely outplayed McMillon in 22 even though he was younger
DM would have been the better option than MM this past season in hindsight only from a tackling standpoint but having him wouldn’t have made the defense noticeably better. Neither didn’t provide much in pass defense tho lol
100% agree, McMillan will likely be playing on Sundays, maybe as a back up, but he will be playing. Watched him several times this year, and the kid is an excellent tackler.
Sure would have… You might not be the fastest guy in the world but his instincts are awesome if you watch him and like I mentioned 105 tackles doesn’t happen the kid knows how to tackle the right way.
A S with 105 tackles also means your LB crew and your DL might suck, but at least he made the TD saving tackle. I played DB many moons ago and my coach always said to us: If the DL messes up the other team makes a nice gain. If the LB messes up the other team makes a 1st down. If you mess up the other team makes a TD. Word to the wise: Don't mess up.
What concerned me is that on many of the long scoring plays we did not even touch the player in the way to the end zone. Not even a missed tackle. If we can stop some of these plays, have a real chance for a few more wins. Also need to win the 4th quarter from a S&C perspective. Was interesting listening to the Mizzou coach comment that he and his players knew they would win the 4th versus Ohio State. We need that mentality again.
Yeah, he played on it not so good team but tackled really well. We need fundamentally sound good tacklers more than anything else on defense. And I love what your coach said he sure was right
Personally I would be leaving if my end of year evaluation had too many things I needed to work on versus my teammates.
Everyone wouldn't surprise me if a few of the "good ones" already had a foot out the door or otherwise an attitude problem.
Think about that, fans screaming about players have no loyalty but at the same time, ok with players being processed out.
Unlimited counters, and unlimited transfers have really made a mess of this, add in the extra year of eligibility, and it’s even worse. If you don’t have virtually unlimited transfers, you don’t need unlimited counters, and then you don’t have as many players being processed out.
