First round of the SEC is always tough. It like fighting your brother. If you win the first one, you know it is going to be war. The fact that the top four SEC teams are all closer to Nashville doesn’t help from fan perspective. But with fans from all these teams in the arena at the same time, most of them will be pulling against who they don’t want to play, always surprising when fans get behind us from other teams. every year is different. As for the NCAA, where do we play and who do we play, it seems they want to put us in the east, of course the toughest bracket. If we get a tough opening draw in ACC or Big East land, the fans of course will be pulling against us. You have to win the close ones and teams are going to run zone defenses against us. We just have to stay focused and keep doing our strengths of our team and keep getting better against zones defenses. The SEC tournament will help with teams playing zone defense and we will have to deal with it before the NCAA. March Madness!
Or the 1999 team that made it to the regionals, or the 2011 team that made the Elite 8, or the 1994 team that made the semis. In something as wild and unpredictable as the NCAAs, I’m not sure how much experience matters. Maybe a little more in the coaching department, but playing a tough schedule with lots of games away from home helps some.
We'll have plenty of Tourny experience when we head to the Arizona...2 weeks after winning the SECT. So not to worry.
