It turns out that the one thing NOT required to run an Air Force Intelligence Unit is . . . intelligence.

Teixiera's supervisors knew that he was accessing top secret information, and did little to stop him. They caught him more than once, but there was no effort to discipline him or remove his security clearance. Obviously, his supervisors did not take their responsibilities very seriously. How stupid do you have to be to ignore major crimes in progress?

His supervisors may or may not be intelligent; but, they acted ( or their inaction ) was foolhardy. People can be intelligent and do stupid things or act unwisely.

I think they are just lazy. “Hey, the kid is doing it again. Really? Send him another memo to cover your assets.” Seems like they stopped looking for work as soon as they got a job.

 

They should be charged

 

Without knowing what really happened and who they did or did not contact, then at a minimum they should lose their clearances.
