I had a top secret clearance when I was 20
    Certainly wasn’t the only one

The age, but also “Massachusetts Air National Guard”. That’s what stood out more to me. He’s part time, yet apparently had access to top secret docs that really only a few dozen people at the Pentagon and White House should have.

That’s not unusual at all. It looks like he was one of the technicians who maintained the systems on which this data was stored. They are a young population.

You are making an assumption he was part time. The Guard has a large population of full-time members, like me, to keep the enterprise going at all times. That is especially true in technical fields, such as the one this airman was in.

Take aviation, for instance. You can’t just have aircrew show up to fly one weekend a month and two weeks every summer. Those aircraft have to be maintained all of the time. Aircrew have to maintain proficiency throughout the month. The battalion I command is comprised of roughly 1/3 full-time personnel to make that happen when the unit is not in full assembly.

But you are hitting on the main problem: why did he have access to documents he did not need? There was a failure in that somewhere. Having the highest clearance doesn’t mean you get to know everything, just what you need to know.

but at the end of the day, the other partners receive far more benefits than we get so they'll continue to share.

Jack Teixeira is a Massachusetts Air National Guardsman who is accused of being the leader of a “small online gaming chat group” called “Thug Shaker Central,” where secret U.S. classified and defense documents were leaked and posted, according to the New York Times and CBS News.

“Today the Justice Department arrested Jack Douglas Teixeira in connection with an investigation into alleged unauthorized removal, retention and transmission of classified national defense information,” U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland announced in a news conference.

MTG who is on the Homeland Security Committee has come out in defense of Texeira because he's a white Christian male and she's rooting for Putin to win the Ukraine War.

The brain is still forming up until age 24, along with the ability to fully understand things like risk and responsibility, so I would say 25. Let them work on the non-top secret computer systems until then. Alternately, come up with some sort of test that accurately identifies someone careless and risk tolerant enough to publish national secrets.

With that logic, there’s lots of activities that should then require one to be at least 25 to participate in

Is this not a case of treason? If so, what might the penalty be for a guilty party?

How many of those activities have the ability to possibly influence the outcome of a major war or put U.S. national security at risk?

Have to imagine this is killing his family. They seem like solid members of society. Same for the parents in Nashville.

Is there a reason she has not been arrested as a treasonous terrorist sympathizer and thrown in Guantanamo for life?
