This shows the season assists weighted for 3pt shots. Look at the synergy from Clayton to Samuel (9) & back (8.5). Overall, the Clayton/Pullin combo is the strongest one-way (16.5) & two-way (20). Kugel works very well with Clayton but also with Handlogten & Condon.
There’s a tendency for fans to write off players who are misused or don’t play much. I’ve been arguing with a lot of Gator fans for years about who is better than whom, whether appliers and any good, etc. Glover is just one of those players, but, obviously, he’s a favorite of mine.
Look at Haugh, in the bottom half on individual stats, but leading the way when other players get mixed in. Great team player
Do we start our best 5 desired lineup next Saturday and shorten the bench to prepare for SEC play or play another game like yesterday with everybody?
Play everyone and run full speed while on the court. That 2000 team was so fun to watch, just ran opponents ragged. We've got Pullin, Clayton, Richard, Kugel that could all be starters on any given night, plus Aberdeen and Rishwain. We have Sameul, Handlogten, Condon, and Haugh (and maybe Shimmy eventually). Just run. Play everyone. We have 10 guys that deserve minutes, sub early and often and just keep running. And if someone is having an off night, sit them and keep running with who you have left. We could have two guys having off nights and still run a typical 8 man rotation. And if no one is having a terrible night, put them all out there and run!
Part of that 2000 team was pressing most of the game to keep it sped up. Don't let the oppo have a chance to rest. You give up a few breakaways but the payoff was worth it. Pressing might be an interesting experiment against Merrimack. I wouldn't want to trot it out for the first time against UK, except maybe to try it a few minutes and see how it goes. But they love a fast game.
If only we hadn't already played Merrimack! I would also like to see us press, but not everyone knows how to coach the press. Has CTG ever been known as a full court press kind of coach? We may just have to rely on token pressure and speeding things up on the offensive side of the ball to create tempo.
