What coach would you not be concerned about? If you are a pessimist, every coach is wrong coast or too old or too young or washed out.
Recognize the sarcasm, but I’d think 7 years is a fair opportunity to showcase what your team can accomplish
Hey, if we're unsatisfied in three years, that's three years that Grant likely has Dayton deep in the NCAA tournament with his young group at Dayton
I'm just kidding but this was a fast hire all things considered. Best shot we had at a quick turnaround was an established name, even if that name wasn't ridiculously sexy. Given our roster now this will be a hard situation for Golden. I hope Stricklin actually hasn't a plan and isn't just throwing shit at the wall.
It wasn’t a sarcastic comment, I agree with you, 7 years is more then Enough time. UF is way more patient then the majority of schools.
Does anyone know about his recruiting ability? I'm in Tampa and I spoke with two H.S. coaches here, one of which played for UF, and neither knew anything about Coach Golden. Does anyone know if he recruited FL while at Auburn?
I have a customer in Seattle, went to Gonzaga, and lives college basketball out there. So I asked him his opinion of Todd Golden — his reply: You got a rising star in the world of college bball! He’s awesome! Take that for what it’s worth Go Gators
Todd Golden has some personality, which CMW shielded every thing he talked about. He didn’t like promoting his Gator team which could have used quite a bit. Just wanted to practice his defense with his team, words about anything on the Gators were on a need to know. hopefully Coach Golden will help promote the team and answer fan questions anytime he gets them. As for recruiting this year will be tough due to our coach bailing on the the team, of course to secure a position for his future. No telling what the team will do or the new recruits coming in. I hope they will listen to his plan to help the Gator program before all their friends, family, coaches or any handlers get to them. We will see as time goes by.
He recruited Jared Harper and Bryce Brown to Auburn-those guys lost 63-62 to Eventual Champ Virginia in the 2019 Final Four.
San Franciso ranked 23rd overall in Ken Pom's. 23rd in defense and 42nd in offense. Florida, with allegedly more talent and definitely more resources and Brand: I had to scroll a long way down. Florida was 55th overall. 83rd in defense and 36th in offense.
It wouldn't have been very difficult at all for UF's Associate AD, who was Golden's boss at Auburn to shoot Todd a text or three back in February.
I hope he did his research to get the best coach he can get. I just didn’t see or hear anything about it. All of a sudden we have a new coach. I thought the reason why it took so long to pull the trigger on coach Rae is because he was doing his due diligence. Why so quick to hire with the men's team?
Great, analytical comment. This might be an outstanding hire Why does this make zero sense? Golden has recruited the SEC. Remember Jared Harper and Bryce Brown at Auburn? The two guards that led Auburn to the 2019 Final Four-where they lost to eventual champ Virginia 63-62. Golden found those kids in the Georgia sticks. Golden was on every Power 5 AD's short list this coaching cycle. Why don't you read up on the young man a little bit-pretty impressive start to a young coaching career.
You sound very certain of this. If he did call 'em, he wouldn't have publicized it. You never want to make it sound like your new coach wasn't your first choice.
