With the current NFL-like Free Agent craze running rampant throughout college football, doesn't it make sense that college coaching staffs should better mirror this environment?...Kendall Jackson decommited from UF recently and announced his commitment to Miami...Why?...To quote Jackson,“The League is not my end goal. I want to be a Hall of Famer & who else better to help get me there than a Hall of Famer!”...Jackson was referring directly to former Miami Dophins NFL DE, and current Hurricanes DL Coach Jason Taylor. I believe that CBN can change UF's current trajectory if he starts adding former NFL Coaches and Players to our staff...This is the logical response to attract today's College Football Player...It would help spark recruiting, help retain players, and bring in more talent through the Portal.
Specifically, I believe significant impact would be achieved by appointing NFL-related personnel to our DC and OC positions.
Which schools won the portal this week Kentucky Wildcats The Wildcats have added quite a few players on offense through the transfer portal, capped by North Texas receiver Ja'Mori Maclin this week. Maclin had 1,004 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in 2023. Kentucky didn't have a receiver who caught more than 553 yards this season, so Maclin will be a welcomed addition. He's joining Texas A&M freshman receiver Raymond Cottrell, who was an ESPN 300 recruit in the 2023 class, as key transfers at the position. The staff also got Ohio State running back Chip Trayanum, who ran for 373 yards and three touchdowns on 85 attempts this season. In addition, Georgia quarterback Brock Vandagriff transferred to Kentucky last week, giving the staff a new set of personnel. Ole Miss Former South Carolina wide receiver Antwane "Juice" Wells is transferring to Ole Miss, he told ESPN on Sunday. Wells, who started his career at James Madison, was one of the SEC's top playmakers before injuring his left foot in a 24-14 loss at Georgia on Sept. 18. He didn't play again this past season. "I like the way their football program is trending right now," Wells said of Ole Miss. "They're on the rise. I want to be a part of a winning culture."
Please note that many desirable NFL assistant coaches are still locked into their team until they are no longer in the playoff hunt. This weekend and the following weekend will introduce more names for collage positions.
Many soon to be former NFL assistant coaches are like dirty underwear. Especially those who under performed at their NFL position. Please note the famous line from the Indian Jones Movie, "The Raider of the Lost Ark," be wise of what you choose.
This post aged well. Jackson didn't sign with Miami-he flipped to Texas A & M-so one can fairly conclude from his behavior that he is a head case, not someone who we should be quoting as a fountain of wisdom.
I still believe Hindsight is crystal-clear...However, I still believe that with the new system and today's 'new player' an NFL-like staff is more desirable.
He also tweeted out an announcement that he wasn't signing with Florida.....after he had already decomitted and had already committed to Miami. Kid was all over the place and appears to have been overwhelmed by the attention.
Yeah, the kid may be a nutjob so not the best example...I still believe there is something there to be learned and understood about the new type of staffing that attracts and keeps today's player if we are receptive to it.
I think you are trying to find a logical order in a corrupt and narcissistic business. If anything quoting this kid illustrates just how little those things matter for some kids. Money, nightlife, ego, the moment etc will be the deciding factor for a lot of kids. Time will tell if Napier's "culture" emphasis will work or not. That's not to say we didn't take our swing at some questionable characters (not necessarily bad kids) like McClain, Jackson, Hayes, Smith etc but guys like Collins, Graham, lagway etc illustrate a certain character we rightly value. They do as well as evident by their unwavering commitments
The frontal lobe is the part of the brain that controls decision making, reasoning and social understanding, and is not fully developed until the age of 25. I expect impulsive behavior from high school and even college kids. Not their fault as their brains are still maturing.
I believe it was Hightop that mentioned he wasn't getting an offer sheet b/c apparently he had grade issues. Makes sense as he didn't sign with miami either.
