The childlike joy on his face.
Such an icon of my childhood. Hard to see him like that each time he is in public, but inspirational beyond words. Thanks JMDZ.

Best OP in a long time.

Coincidently I was watching this video ^ on another site immediately before opening Too Hot and seeing this post.

I'm glad MJF was able to do this. The briefly seen smile on his face near the end of this clip says it all.

Years back in an interview Fox revealed how he learned he had Parkinson's. His symptoms began - or increased - when he was making Doc Hollywood. Small town scenes for the movie were being filmed in Micanopy and McIntosh. He was referred to Shands where his Parkinson's was diagnosed.

Fox is married to Tracy Pollan and his brother-in-law is author Michael Pollan.

One of my very best friends has Parkinson's. He was a high school teacher in Puerto Rico, he taught auto body repair. When he moved to Tampa he started in a local Nissan dealer collision repair shop and worked his way up to being its manager. After several years, he left and opened his own shop. Imron paint was the rage back then and it is now widely regarded as being one of the most dangerous and toxic automotive paints ever made. I don't know if they've changed its formulation or not. Unfortunately, he did not have state of the art safety equipment and he was exposed to that and many, many other hazardous chemicals over the years. It was very difficult watching that disease progress. It started off with a slight tremble in his right hand and just kept going. He can no longer work, of course, but thankfully he has children and grandchildren to help take care of him. Michael J. Fox has always been a bit of an inspiration to him...rich people can get it, too, and live with it. He always quickly adds that it certainly helps if you have unlimited funds for treatment. His sense of humor remains intact. It is sad that he has been approached several times over the years by people professing to know about a miracle cure, always in another country and always costing $25,000 to $100,000. One was so convincing he actually tried to raise the money for it, but thankfully the "family friend" who was to make the arrangements was exposed before any money was paid. I'm absolutely certain MJF would gladly give up everything he owns to not have it.

Simply a terrible, terrible disease and so very sad to see what it does. It was so nice to see a few glimpses of joy on MJF's face when he was on stage playing guitar. God bless Chris Martin and Coldplay for making that happen.
