Time for Conservative and Liberal U.S. Teams in International Competitions?

In light of the ending of the 2024 Olympics, I think it's a good time to seriously consider this for future competitions.

I don't know about you, but I found the 2024 Olympics to be the most boring and unpatriotic Olympics in my lifetime. The Olympics just don't mean what they used to. Some of that is maybe because of the random sports they have, but I am old enough to remember what it felt like for the 1992, 1996 and 2000 Olympics. There was genuine pride for the athletes representing the U.S. There was genuine excitement when athletes representing the U.S. won Gold. Many of the U.S. athletes, at least temporarily, became essentially celebrities, if for a few weeks or months.

I am not old enough to remember the 1984 or 1988 Olympics but I know it was even more intense and patriotic then, due to the rivalry with the then Soviet Union.

But all of that is over. A conservative in Texas or Florida is not going to feel represented by a liberal athlete from California or New York. And the same of course in reverse.

My opinion is that the divisive politics in the country and the two sides moving away from each have caused any type of patriotism in International Competitions like the Olympics to become almost non-existent. People here in the U.S. simply can not feel represented by someone who they think or know has different views than them. Look at Rapinoe with women's soccer in prior international competitions. She alone caused many here in the U.S. to actively root against the U.S. in soccer.

The only solution I see, along with everything else in the U.S., is a split between Conservatives and Liberals. Petition the Olympics and International Competitions to have a United Conservatives of America and a United Liberals of America. For the Conservative team you would have to show proof of being registered with the Republican Party, Libertarian Party or some other Conservative Party. For the Liberal team you would likewise have to show proof of being registered with the Democrat Party, Green Party, Socialist Party or some other Liberal Party.

If International Competitions and the Olympics won't allow this, then at least a competition between the Conservative Team and the Liberal Team, with the winner being the one who gets to represent the U.S. But I think with enough money thrown around and enough push, the U.S. could get this done.

This would allow people to truly feel represented by their athletes again. To truly feel represented by their teams again. To probably bring some patriotism back for future Olympics and International Competitions. Otherwise I for-see a continued decrease in interest in the Olympics and International Competitions here in the U.S.

Flip the script, if a U.S. athlete won gold and then talked about how he supports abortion bans with no exceptions and wants to outlaw gay/lesbian marriages you all would want to burn him at the stake. There would probably be calls to remove him from the U.S. Olympic team. Would you really feel represented by him?

That’s how many Conservatives feel. Underrepresented. The Olympics are a different animal. It’s not about the athlete as an individual. They’re supposed to compete and try to win for their country, not themselves. That’s why many of us hated Rapinoe, she made it about herself and not the U.S. She forgot she was suppose to represent all the U.S., not just the 50% that share her politics. U.S. athletes at International Competitions are supposed to be the representation for their people. I sure as heck don’t feel represented.

Ever look at things from Rapinoe's perspective? Here she is, one of the top athletes in her sport, winning gold medals and World Cups for her country, and yet, back home, there are those who would wish to marginalize her and stuff her back in the closet. Ever wonder how that felt for Rapinoe?

Why don't we ask Tommie Smith and John Carlos how they felt way back in 1968 after they both won Olympic medals? Probably a lot like Megan Rapinoe did. And if you were around back then, you would have advocated for two separate countries based on race instead of fighting to try and unify the country and make it better for all.

Not a split Olympics but U.S. that truly reflect their people. If we had to I would say only Conservatives from Red states could represent the Conservative U.S. team and only Liberals from Blue states could represent the Liberal U.S. team.

Think of it more as an East Germany/West Germany situation from the 1970s and 1980s or a North Korea/South Korea type situation today.

I know as a Conservative I feel no connection to a lot of the athletes representing the U.S. because I know their Liberal politics.

As it currently stands I’d much rather see athletes from a lot of European and Hispanic countries (mostly because many of the women athletes from those countries are far more attractive but also because they truly represent their people) win over the U.S. athletes and that’s unfortunate.

You should think about trying to engineer a race of attractive, conservative people then go "find" some land to live in, free from unattractive people or anyone with a thought different than yours.
