Not the point and you know it
No one is happy about the school shootings
    No one.
But the scary AR15 just isn’t. This weapon of war is nothing more than an anemic hunting rifle round.
We can take all the school shooting deaths in any given year and they don’t account for 1/10 of the kids shot. Most done by handguns. Many by drive by shootings at church’s, churches lay grounds, state fairs or concerts.
But no one wants to get fired up about those. 9mm from a car window isn’t as “scary” as weapon of war! Far more dangerous given the stats… but then again so is a shotgun.. never hear about that. Ok Joe says that what we should all have. Granted.. it kills more each year than the AR15.

Time to start making parents liable for their child committing murder. Its either your DNA or your parenting(or lack thereof) that caused it.

In this case, I dont think it would help, but I would love to drag these parents out in front of the populous and dig into the 28 year olds upbringing. I would bet good money there is some trauma there. Someone has to start paying for it besides the innocent.

People get fired up about those too. They got fired up about the Bama player who's weapon killed a young woman. Quit trying to deflect. There is a gun problem in America. School shootings just happen to be the ugliest symptom.

Blame the parents? Too convenient and susceptible to error. Some of them are idiots (the parents of the Michigan school shooter, but I think they are being held accountable), but some just have a kid who went off the deep end.

Dumb post of the day.. The 28 year old has likely been out of the parents' home for 10 years. If it was DNA related, we'd expect to see signs much earlier. 10 years of exposure to white supremacists, Nazis, extreme religious whackjobs, etc., is far more likely to be the environmental factor as opposed to a potty training mishap.

The heartless responses. The ignorance. Hard to even have a discussion.

What an awful thing that happened. And the callous heartless responses from a few. All to push an ignorant agenda.

    Sigh.

The woman was a former student at this Christian School. The parents might have pushed in the opposite direction of what you are suggesting. Either way, absurd to hold parents liable for a 28 year old *unless* they were aware of mental issues *AND* they bought the gun. But even then, a huge reach to hold parents liable for a 28 year old.

Ok, on cue, the new right wing mantra that we need to investigate 50% of the population who has ever had some sort of “mental health issue” in order to protect gun rights.

Maybe we should go after the grandparents while we are at it? I mean they raised the parents.

Talking about gun control is a waste of time with Republican SCOTUS. They've made it essentially impossible under their bogus interpretation of the Second Amendment.

So you would not be peeved by kids/people being murdered by a 9mm handgun? The way vast majority of gun murders happen…

Even if we were more accurate in the description, it doesn't change the fact that it is becoming more common for children to be gunned down in schools. We can have a conversation, but to be honest, it won't change anything with our current environment of the NRA effectively controlling politicians and dialog that any attempt to control firearms will lead to confiscation of all firearms.

What I would like to see are guns regulated similar to driving. To drive, we have driving schools, physical and didactic tests, liability insurance, licenses with renewal and fees, car registrations, and laws that govern appropriate driving with criminal enforcement and license revocation. Auto makers are rewarded for making safer, better, cars. And yes, criminals use cars all the time in the commission of crimes and skirt the laws, but that has not prevented a continual decline in the incidence of car deaths and improved highway safety over decades.

The Vegas massacre was committed by a 64 year old. Might be a problem in some of these cases.

I have no problem holding the parents liable when it’s a minor and the parents supplied the gun. But even then, there has to be at least some documented issue of mental illness to really attach blame to the parents. That case in Michigan where the parents were charged was like the perfect example.

No I think the point is the AR-15 has the impact of a rifle but is more easily portable than your typical rifle.

50% of the population are suspects in a mass shooting? Where do some of you come up with this stuff? What does this have to do with anything I wrote? What makes you think I am pro gun? This board never ceases to amaze me.
