yes, it was still a penalty. They called late hit (without targeting)on UT and unsportsmanlike conduct on UF. Off setting penalties. Tenn ball where Mertz knee went down.

 

Why suspend someone who didn't land a punch? He could have been shadow boxing.

 

Loss of composure to gain what? How 'bout a suspension that hurts the team more than showing their butt at the end of a game. Perhaps an introduction to stadium steps after practice would serve as a reminder to avoid getting baited. NOT smart.

 

Glad we are playing Charlotte this Saturday and not Kentucky.

He looked like he tried to pull up and didn’t put a full hit on them anyway. 15 yard penalty was fine. Their coach was the one really out of line. The player not so much.

Mertz was down on one knee, Thomas caught mertz with his right forearm knocking mertz on his back. It was hard to see as most angles were from behind mertz.

 

Heupel should have been on that list.

 

WTF didn't Mertz just take the knee? Snap the ball, catch it, kneel, and BALLGAME! Heupel called the timeout EXACTLY for this reason. UT had maybe a .005% chance to win. 7 seconds in the game would require a fumble, super sonic run to the endzone then onside kick with a TD return.

 

Give props to Mazzccua. Had good form and a nice right hook.

 

I like having Maulers on the line. Dudes were ready to throw down for Mertz. I like it.

Game wouldn't just magically end. There was still time on the clock, Mertz was running it out.

 

Probably the best option was for Mertz to dance as long as possible and then throw the ball as far as he could.....clock runs till the ball lands

It was definitely targeting and why did they call the timeout? Sloppy Joe should be fired. The targeting should have been called. I don’t care about our suspensions.

Didn't he jump offsides on the first or second play of the game? Clean after that, though.
