I bet SOS would take it! He loves coaching and, especially, running the offense! WHO WOULDN'T WANT TO SEE THAT!!! Oh my goodness, could you imagine the hype before the season. I think the Old Ball Coach could make all three quarterbacks, Mertz, Miller, and Rashada MUCH, MUCH, BETTER!!!
The very young people here will laugh at this. But I would give him that opportunity to assist Napier in play calling from the booth.
Let him be. He’s around if the current staff wants to bounce ideas off him, but he doesn’t want to be a full time coach and he damn sure doesn’t want to recruit, nor do we want him in a role that would require him to do so. OC would be an absolute no. An analyst position sure, but can’t imagine he’d want to do that either. He’s retired man. Let him play golf and schmooze with the big money in his ambassador role.
He could just draw up plays...be a part time analyst..no recruiting..it would help keep his brain sharp
I said that was fine with me, just can’t imagine he really wants to do that. He’s got a pretty sweet gig at the moment.
No. Let the man enjoy his retirement. The dynamics don't make sense to me. It's like people always saying Muschamp should be DC and Mullen should be OC. Just stop.
As an analyst I could see him coaching up the QBs on fundamentals without the hassle of being a coach.
He has a sharp brain..and in my mind better thinking on offensive plays..he is 77 I think..he still works out..I even saw "his" treadmill in the weight room He knows more plays and is creative..maybe slip a few into BN on a napkin lol
This thread is hilarious! So we have some folks here that thinks he would go out and be the OC where he would have to watch hours upon hours of film , practice everyday, recruit, staff meetings,etc... LOL He would read this bs and just shake his head, thinking what is wrong with these people. Folks SOS is done !,,,,, leave it be and move on.
Actually, I have always thought the HC should invite SOS to make a more substantial contribution. I like your idea of an analyst or Special Quarterback Mentor. Anything that wouldn't include recruiting, I'm sure he wouldn't care for that!
