How are those electric heaters going to do when another blizzard hits and wipes out the power lines?
There is no comparison between a quality gas stove and a quality electric stove. Gas beats the snot out of it.
And there is really no good argument to switch over the electric.. especially in the North.
We got lucky and have a NG well on our property. No need for the electric lines. A little solar, a little NG for stoves and heat and an NG generator for.. just in case.

    Nailed it.

The extra time it takes for the electric element to boil your water was the final piece of the puzzle. Then they will have the time to enact Order 66 over the 5g network and turn on all the microchips implanted during your vaccinations. If we can just outlaw gat stoves, everybody will be woke LGBTQ in no time!!

I have the right to life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness and government exists to secure these ends. In what way is having an NG stove a threat to the life, Liberty, or pursuit of happiness for someone else? In what way is outlawing NG stoves within the scope of securing these rights?

Gov also has a responsibility to promote the general welfare. If it's proven that gas stoves are a serious health hazard, the government can and should do something, from informing to banning. What course is taken, if any, will likely depend on the seriousness of the health hazards.

Does your right to liberty include being able to burn your garbage in your back yard or use leaded gasoline?

How would this theoretical ban, that isn't actually being considered, control you?

I previously replied “bull” to your post that said it was about control. That’s bull. I government study noted that gas stoves can cause asthma and other harm. That’s not control. Control is a bunch of jackasses manipulating the outcome of elections, or forcing 12-year old pregnant girls to have babies, or banning a book about Hank Aaron, or busting unions so they can fatten their wallets while their workers have to get 2 jobs, all the while convincing naive people to support them. Wake up.

The fluorescent bulbs are crap (can't dim them without a special ballast) but the new LED bulbs are far superior to the old incandescent. They come in different color temperatures or color changing if you want and they last forever (almost). If an LED bulb or fixture is going to go it will do it in the first few months and likely because of a bad driver.

Induction cooktop is faster than gas. Boils water almost twice as fast.

The government study noted that 1 in 8 childhood asthma cases can be linked to gas stoves. So 12% of asthma cases. Another CDC study says that there are roughly 6 million cases of childhood asthma. So that is roughly 720,000 childhood asthma cases linked to gas stoves.

Now let's look at the other data - 40 million households use gas stoves, according to the study you noted.

So, what we are saying is, 720k out 40 million is 0.18%. So what you are saying is, 0.18% of childhood asthma cases is an excellent reason to ban a product 40 million households use.
(Yes I understand no one has proposed a ban, yet).

As for the other stuff you mentioned:
I am not in favor of anyone manipulating elections. I believe political donations should be made public, and corporations should be banned from donating to political parties or campaigns. I believe there should be strict limits on individual donations to candidates as well. I believe all ties to foreign regimes should be made public. I believe in repealing the fairness doctrine, and returning media to an impartial player in the electoral process. If that is control, please expand on my ideas because I believe in fair elections.

I am not in favor of forcing a 12 year old pregnant girl to have a baby. I'm not sure how you got there. I'm pretty much in favor of a person having control over their own medical decisions. I am in favor, however, of in MOST cases, the parent of a minor being in the loop on these decisions. If that is control, I quit.

I am not in favor of banning any book, any time, anywhere. Full stop. I am not in favor of censorship. That decision is in the hands of the user.

I am not in favor of unions, but am not opposed to them either. I think unions, when run properly, are an asset to the worker. I also know, from personal experience with my dad, the union rarely represents the will of the worker in negotiations. Again, control from a different source - or is it bad of me to criticize the unions?

Please, tell me again how I need to wake up. Perhaps you took me for a Republican - the right side of the oligarchy running our country.

That is not an accurate description of the math. It is not 0.18% of childhood asthma cases (it is 12.5%). It is that 0.18% of stoves have caused a case of childhood asthma. Now the question is how likely should a stove be to cause childhood asthma.

Presumably the 12.5% of cases occur only in homes with a gas stove.

Yes, but you said 1/8 cases of childhood asthma occur due to a gas stove. That is 12.5%. The lower number you produced is not the percentage of childhood asthma cases linked to a gas stove. It is the percentage of gas stoves linked to a childhood asthma case. That is a pretty important distinction when considering whether to regulate something.

OK so math not my strong point. You are correct in what you say.

However, when we compare this to the general population, the numbers are microscopically small. We haven't banned cigarettes, we failed in an attempt to ban alcohol, we don't ban firearms, motor vehicles, or watching the news, but I would wager the number of people negatively impacted by these things are significantly higher than NG stoves. There's an angle here, and I'm trying to figure out what it is - but I'm sure it isn't childhood asthma (12.5% of 720,000 cases).

Not actually taking a position one way or another on this (I haven't researched the topic enough). I will say that something like gas stoves could be easier to ban than a consumable like cigarettes, drugs, or alcohol. A black market develops at the first sign that any of those are banned. Gas stoves require some serious infrastructure, which would seem to be harder for a black market to provide. In addition, they are obviously large objects that would be very hard to smuggle.

A little OT, but one of the long ago Gates initiatives was to get cookstoves into developing countries. By sheer volume, it would greatly reduce emissions. Been years since I read on it. Here is a piece I found:

Why charcoal? Because many Tanzanians, along with more than 2.5 billion people worldwide, still rely on collecting charcoal, firewood, and other biomass to fuel their cookstoves or to light their homes.

President Hassan hopes to change this by requiring most Tanzanian institutions — any group that provides services to more than 300 people — to switch to cleaner cooking technologies and fuels within 12 months.

But why the focus on cooking, and why the rush?

My point was a simple one. A government researcher pointing out that gas stoves can cause health problems is not control. Should the government be silent on the matter and on other health-related matters? I don’t think so. As for the other things that I pointed out, they all involve the right trying to control us. I shouldn’t have said “Wake up” to you at the end of my prior post, but my message is for people to wake up to what’s going on from the right. They are trying to control us, and they’re lying bullshit about grooming children, color blindness, rapists coming across the border, etc. are being bought into by naive people.
