Take most any issue, look at the extremes, then see if there’s a compromise position. As just one example, take paid maternal leave. I favor a year with half pay. The cons would never agree. There’s middle ground, don’t you think? To me, that’s being a moderate, though I agree there are some issues where compromise seems impossible in today’s climate.
