There is a high degree of seeking out the most extreme cases of the *other* side's ideology presented on this board. The excuses will always be that it's to counter what the others present. Transgenderism isn’t a sign that Americans have gone mad. The sign that Americans have gone mad is that people who express concerns about it are considered overwrought. I have a close friend who “has his own Jazz” and laments that it feels like he lost a son. His early protests were snowed over by school administrators, doctors and psychiatrists. And yes, the threat of suicide was ever dangled over him.
Sadly, it's not surprising at all and stories like the one in the original post of this thread are in large part responsible.
As an example of the disproportionate obsession with the issue, I recall after the Utah state legislature enacted legislation banning the participation of transgender athletes in high school sports a commentator pointed out that out of over 60,000 high school athletes in the state, four identified as transgender.
You're right. I shouldn't have said anyone when, of course, there's always somebody, no matter how ridiculous or ugly the subject is. But saying 'rightwingers' want teen suicides is still way, way too broad a brush. As bad as others who claim 'liberals want' because somebody somewhere does.
