    Last two hours. May be coming to an end. The vessel was “partially refloated”, which sounds like a hangover cure

    And? His point still stands. Those bases are largely reinforced or at least resupplied by sea, one way or another, and losing the Canal would add weeks to the transit for shipping from Europe or the U.S. East Coast (doesn’t do a damn thing against shipping coming from the West Coast).

    A better counterpoint would be if this was part of an adversarial move, then it probably would have started almost concurrently. The Canal being blocked made red flags go up almost immediately.
