The story of Rudolph is messed up

None of this bothers me. What bothers me is that we teach kids to watch for Rudolph's nose on Christmas eve.

He flew once. "ONE foggy Christmas eve" One. O-n-e. He is not flying around tonight.

 

I'm sure that's what Santa was thinking when he asked but then he discovered that demoting a minority employee is a very good way to get sued. So, now Rudolph is there every year even when it's not foggy.

 

Or, Santa realized that having "Plan B" was a smart risk management move since Christmas only happens once/year. Having Rudolph is part of the cost of doing business.

BTW, has anyone seen the Morgan & Morgan sign near the North Pole? Suddenly, elves are getting injured at work at an alarming rate and chiropractors are flocking there.

 

It's all good. Reindeer everywhere are complaining now because Rudolph isn't "giving back" enough.

 

I think this is correct. It's about being accepting of people who are different because we all have something that makes us special.

 

Don't forget the sexism

 

The moral is that you have to be reeeeaaaallly stoned to mine a kids' show for philosophical meaning.

To Tilly’s post about Rudolph flying *one* night, I am watching Miracle On 34th Street (1947), and his employment card listed eight reindeer - no Rudolph - as Kris’ next of kin. I can only assume that Rudolph hit the transfer portal or had some disciplinary problems.
