Lots of negative posts, and I must say I agree with a lot of the comments that have been made. BUT, I think there is a lot of talent on this team and if they can develop a little more chemistry, we can be good. We lost to a good Kentucky team by two. We got cream by Ole Miss but they couldn’t miss a shot In the second half. I did like seeing TG get that technical foul late in the game when it didn’t matter. Sign of sending a message to his team. Hey FIGHT!

Name me a significance win. Still early but if we don't beat Ark. at home then we can panic.

I just posted this on another thread, but thought I'd re-post here.

Right now Florida is 124th in D1 in assist to turnover ratio at 1.22. We are 318th in free throw shooting at 65.38%, 204th in 3 point shooting at 33.04%, 226th in 3 point defense at 33.90%, 147th in field goal defense at 42.533%, 104th in field goal shooting at 46.43%, 13th in rebound margin at 10 per game, 296th in turnover margin at -1.7, 296th in scoring defense at 76.5 ppg., 40th in fast break ppg. at 14.4, 236th in fouls per game at 17.7, 10th in scoring offense at 86.1 ppg. and 102nd in bench scoring at 24.47 ppg. Lots of flaws in this team and I'm not sure how they can all be fixed at nearly the mid-point of the season.

Until this team learns to defend the sky is most definitely falling.

If a coach can't get his guys to all play defense, he is screwed. I don't know if Golden knows this. All or almost all of our players can't stay between the man they are defending and the basket. It's like defense 101. Their feet are too close together most of the time. It is some of the worst defense I have ever seen and these guys are athletic. God forbid on our close outs or help defense. And don't even get me started about ball pressure. Because we apply none of that. Teams can do whatever they want in the high post, and if they get it in the low post, they have the whole shot clock to back a guy down because the double team isn't coming, ever.

Other than what you just posted, would you say our defense is solid?

    Wilber was the greatest
I saw him pick up the FSU Qb, get him in an airplane-spin and body slam him into the fake turf at Ben Hill Griffin in ‘83. He was unstoppable !

I still like this team by the eye test (not including the Ole Miss game in which we had more careless/dumb plays/turnovers than in any game so far this season). I'll be surprised if we don't end up with a winning SEC record.

But, we could really use Kugel and Richard getting back on track. We can win games with them struggling, but it makes it harder.

I agree. Today is a must win for me just to see some fight and grit to turn this around. A blow out of Arkansas would be nice.

It would definitely help cleanse the palate and give us a restart at least.

I swear the past 5 or 6 years the basketball team follows how the football does. Football = awful defense, basketball = awful defense. Good thing basketball doesn't have special teams or yes, the sky is falling.

Truth be told, this squad hasn't embodied a defensive mindset. The thing is, though, that they aren't missing physicality, strength, or skill. They are strong at pushing tempo and scoring; they just haven't played well defensively. Maybe that's a matter of gelling, or coaching. I'd be more concerned if these players appeared soft, but they don't. They're just a one-way team at this juncture and we should hope they become more balanced. If Riley can emerge from today's strong performance he provides a major boost defensively.
