True this is the deepest team we've had in a while, at least on paper. The great thing is we have the right mix to be able to play any style, against anyone, especially with CC back.

I'm all for going after more Nigerian recruits. They have shown repeatedly that they are the most agile and athletic big men on the planet. Just ask Giannis and Wembenyama. Heck, let's see if Egbunu has another year of eligibility

The answer to that is why you pay Golden, not me. But I have a hunch he tries lots of different combinations to figure it out.

I am sticking with the 11-man rotation, but that doesn’t mean he won’t start Niels Lane and sic him onto a Nick Smith against Arkansas or the like while not playing him more than a few minutes in some other games. It is going to be interesting to see.

Great analysis that shows a lot of thought.

Its hard for me to look at past Gator teams and correlate any of that to the Golden Gators. (I like that! The Golden Gators). Also, I've never seen most of these guys play so between a new coach with a totally different perspective and a bunch of new players, I'm not sure what to expect.

I hope Lane somehow fits some analytical need. I love watching him play.

Different strokes for different folks maybe. Those cookies on the high shelf are so hard to get to.

It wasn’t deep at all. We all have the freedom to express our preference for the starting lineup.

Insert obligatory "he'll be available in January" joke here.

San Francisco State are the Golden Gators (as in the school from the Golden Gate)

Yeah, but they're the Golden "Gaters" so . . . I like this handle.

Watched the first half on my phone and got tired of that and the game. Looks like we're back to the days of being underwhelmed by the competition in the Fall, which is probably good for the first few games to shake off any dust and get set for the challenges ahead.

The only thing that stood out to me is that the transfer portal can provide a greater boost than recruiting stars, at least in the short term. It's got to be tough for schools like Belmont and others to be training centers for the bluebloods and power conferences. We have a starting lineup of transfers for better or worse. Fortunately, some of them are here for a couple of years.

We have FSU next Friday, then three games in the Knight tournament in Portland against a loaded field the next week, followed by UConn and Oklahoma in December. Out of 13 games before conference season starts (K-State is in late January), we have six legit high-major or tourney-quality opponents. That's not bad, especially when breaking in a new staff.

I didn't check Kennesaw St that in Hogtown on Friday. The roster is full of seniors and juniors. That doesn't mean they are a tough out but it could be one worth the time watching.
