NIL I think the teams that have a lot of returning starters and they add a player or two, it could put you over the top. If the teams that completely overhaul with top talent but don’t have adequate leadership, are going to struggle from time to time. they basically Kentucky basketball. The one exception to this, is if you get a top level QB. Miami!!! I predict we will see a team that wins or is in the championship, that we never saw coming.
It’s a combo of NIL and transferring without consequences. The issue is it’s harder for the top teams to stockpile talent so quality depth is affected.
You can go to the portal and get more talent when you need it, but it isn't the same as plugging in guys who have been learning the system for 2 or 3 years before they are starters.
Personally, I love the parity. A problem with college football was that you used to have 3-4 teams with a huge talent gap over everyone. Going forward, we could very possibly see national champions with 2-3 losses every year. That means it was more of a grind and hard fought. I think we had a few Gators teams that met that 2-3 loss criteria that could have beat any team in a playoff scenario. That Trask team was loaded. I’m glad to see that you can’t just stack all the talent in Bama, OSU, and UGA and coast to a playoff berth.
I kind of wonder if some of the jealous Non-NIL and/or one-foot-in-the-portal guys are betting online.
Speaking of the transfers, I’ve often wondered how universities get around the transfer-credit limitations when we’re talking about transferring several times. Do universities just ignore their own rules on how many credits a student can bring over?
It’s not NIL as much as the change to the transfer rules. When they did away with 1 year redshirt requirement and made it more efficient with the portal, everyone on bad or mediocre teams saw the chance to better their horizons. The money is just an added bonus.
Eh there are always upsets. Even when we were at our best, we didn’t only just lose to the best teams. We lost to Ole Miss and Miss State, too.
It’s also due to conference expansion. Power stacking the P2 has all but guaranteed no one in those 2 conferences go undefeated. I mentioned prior to the season that there was a greater chance of having 2-3, 9 win teams in the playoffs than an undefeated one.
I figured that the reason is Tennessee isn't ever really that good they just score a lot on inferior opponents, same thing their coach did at UCF, and that Kalen Debored just rode a good QB to success. Look at Gene Chizik for another example, but Alabama happens to be easier to win at than Auburn, I figure any poster here could go at least 9-3 as HC there.
Doesn't explain Vandy. If we lost to the 'Dores in Nashville yesterday, the fans here would demand that Billy be left on the tarmac. Vandy lost to Georgia...STATE.
