Until Kearney flipped, we could say that there wasn't much difference, as the top flight recruiting hasn't really occurred under our OL coaches yet. Regarding on field coaching, it seemed Hevesy could do enough to get an OL to either pass block somewhat well or run block somewhat well but never the both in one season. Our current OL has shown very good run blocking and mediocre pass blocking. Hopefully we will have both phases soon.

I'd argue pass blocking is pretty good or at least decent. It just looks worse when the QB isn't a pocket passer, doesn't have good foot work and gets stage fright to make good and quick decisions, so many times with a clean pocket he doesn't step into it, but moves into the rush, or bails too soon. Just pointing out some of AR's struggles on film regarding pocket passing.

I've also noticed sometimes it's been the RB's fault, like Lingard killing a drive last week.

Yeah I don't understand this idea that we struggle pass blocking. We had a couple hail marys blown up but the defenses have sent the house and we should have exploited that with intermediate routes and hoped a ball carrier could make a play. We can't complain AR has been indecisive and held on to the ball too long and then complain about pass blocking.

One of those hail Mary's had a 3 man rush and still got to him before the receivers were downfield. That is inexcusable.

Saw a bunch of pics of recruits from the game, but none that I saw had Lucas Simmons in there. Did he make the trip?

He did. There’s some smoke about him flipping, but article from TOS says he’s still committed to FSU.

you do know we got a couple of 4*s committed (Harris dropped to a 3* but dammit he a 4* in my book lol) and working hard to flip another one right? Coach knows you need high end 4*s to win big in this conference but for this season, they have held their own which actually darn near everyone predicted.

    Gouriage - 4*
    White - 3*
    Kingsley - 3*
    Torrence - 3*
    Tarquin - 4*

but on the recruiting front, i hope we flip Simmons, still work on Francis and Caden Jones. Close the class with those 3 and we are slow stroking missionary style!!

Speaking of chicks, why you whine like one? Are you an advocate of landing unrated 3 stars? Why show up here if that's recruiting? I don't recall your praising Havesy's eye for talent. Feel free to share if you did. Come back when you have something forward looking to post where you can be called out. Or, since that's not your MO, carry on as usual.

Found some absolute gems in White, Kingsley, Barber. But also had a roster with guys like McDowell, Harrod, Symonds that have struggled mightily. Mixed bag, but ultimately probably too many reaches for sustainable success by Hevesy

Apk, you seem to be one of the go-to-guys for OL info here. To what would you attribute the improvement on our OLine this year? Inevitable maturation of guys like White, Kingsley, and Barber? O'Cyrus following Nape and anchoring the line? Development skills of this staff vs. the obviously lower-skilled Hevesy? Napier's obvious emphasis on line-of-scrimmage talent? We seem to be moving from worst-to-first in this area very quickly, and, I'm curious how that is all coming about.

I think you nailed it with all of your points. We have stayed healthy for the most part (especially White), all these guys have matured, you bring in an all-american stud, and two great coaches prepping them. Really good recipe for success.

Torrence is a 3rd coach. What a stroke of luck to get him. And no doubt Jonson has schooled Etienne also.

I didn't think about the health success or the two coaches, either. I guess that mix is actually working. I also think it didn't hurt when the turnstile at right guard moved on last year. Thanks, man.

Don't forget having 3 guys at times through this season that could step in at any time in Barber/Tarquin, Leonard, and Braun. I have to think a long ways back for that reliable of backups, and I would categorize Leonard as one of those gems that was found by the previous staff (or fell into their laps).

When is "today"? Rivals shows him CB'd to miami. He can do much better than that.
