We really needed help when Braun came in as a freshman, and he just hasn't taken that step up from whatever it is that has held him back. Meanwhile a smaller, less heralded guy in Richie has worked his butt off and taken the backup position at OG. That's the same Cocoa High work ethic that Taylor had and got him to the NFL. Braun and his dad can't blame this coaching staff. They have made this OL one of the two position groups that are a top unit in the SEC while the others are way sub-par.
Does seem like Braun is not happy leaving but making the decision based on his future playing time probability. Sometimes a fresh start is a good thing. I hope this young man does well in the future: On and off the playing field.
Who knows. He was committed to UGA until Pittman left as the Georgia OL Coach to become the head coach at Arkansas, then Josh changed to UF. His father was/is the head coach at Suwannee County HS (Live Oak) in north Florida. His brother plays/played for Georgia Tech. It's my understanding from someone familiar with the family that Josh has recently gotten married and is also a serious student, attempting to both graduate early and pursue a Master's Degree. Further, some of his classes apparently conflict with practice this year, which might be a reason he has been seeing less playing time. Regardless, I wish him well.
FWIW, someone posted on Canes board that Mauigoa left the Duke game early and looked pissed. I wouldn’t be surprised if that game doesnt steer him elsewhere — prob UT.
True, but a Miami implosion would help us a lot in South Florida. More so than anyone else I expect. If this coaching staff fails for them they can’t do anything for a while.
Nah, not quite. If we knew he was a bad apple, okay. But after a regime like Mullen and Co- a staff that quit on the team- all bets are off. We don't even know to what extent contact was made by our new staff. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and hope he makes it to the next level.
Braun likely goes where they have a grad program he is interested in. Bright kid. By not playing another game this season, he preserved two years of eligibility and can get his Grad degree paid for. Was not getting snaps this year anyway
