Cmon, sure there are recruiting shortcomings.....but silly stuff like what was posted only serve to distract from serious discussion. If there is a legit 5 star OL at West Orange HS then UF is not going to ignore him, anyone that follows recruiting seriously knows that. You want to discuss how well we handle the recruitment, how effectively we communicate, if our OL coach is personable, etc....those are real discussions. Doubling down on the silliness was just entertaining lol

No! You cannot prove this staff has reach. Sorry, they are very sloppy. As I said, most four and five stars that go elsewhere do not talk about us. And when we are in the mix we are a hat on the table.

In one case can you infer our staff made contact, gave it a real effort, yes, if the recruit mentions us and seems to take us seriously. But that’s not often the case.

What I’m getting from you is we recruit hard even if the results pale. I don’t believe that’s true.

for the record I think your spot on but there have been times before when we have showed not a ton of interest in highly regarded players in state. I think we were late to the party on Denoff/Denhoff and if I remember correctly he was very highly regarded ( pretty high 4 star).

He wasn’t coming to UF no matter what we did. Sometimes staffs have a read on it. Kinda of like Travis Hunter this year. Why even waste time recruiting him when he’s dead set on a school even if it’s a highly ranked kid who’s in state?

Maybe not ignore but I believe they might not go nearly as hard as most. To some that would be close to ignoring.

An example is Cam Miller who is a Jacksonville Miss this year.
Penn State getting a good one. Not sure why we were so late but I’m sure there will be something. This example illustrates your point.

I’d like to think our underperforming staff at times has a light come on and knows a kid won’t accept a scooter. Put the work in where it will be best used. I’d think any staff knows at times not to bark up the wrong tree.

Every school would be guilty of that at times, and you could argue that we have more than our share. But I think we both agree UF isnt missing or ignoring the overwhelming number of elite recruits, if any

I like Cam Miller a lot and think he’s better than his .90 rating. I’d like to hear more as to why we were late to the party. That’s my thing seems like we are behind others offering in our own backyard sometimes.

Because he was down the list at corner and we were only taking a couple. Not sure why they like Burt better, but they do...probably because he worked out for them and impressed.
Then you have Humphrey, Jaheim, Devin Moore, A Thomas, Graves, Ausberry, and a handful of others. Sam McCall was in for a while. Always been a big board at the position

Agree. Here's the thing....where is he gonna go? GT is worse off than us, Collins could get fired. Where is Jaheim going? Canes are worse, and UGA probably backs off with Humphrey in the class. We won't get all the guys on the board, but wll get our share.
You and I have talked about this, as dominos fall you sometimes end up with the better option with a little luck. It's why I say the board is robust enough and the class won't be great but it will be better than many are thinking.

Here's something that stands out to me, or has stood out when I have looked at other team's classes. Lets just take georgia taking Florida players since shart arrived. Most of those guys were hardly mentioned during the process, or hardly mentioned Florida. The only guy that stands out is Sorrey. You can cut mullen some slack for the guys that went to georgia in 2019 but 2020 and 2021 other than Sorrey the guys going to georgia weren't even interested(my recollection).
    UGASports
    UGASports
    UGASports

Lets be honest though. It's all but water under the bridge now.

TBH I don't see how any recruit could be down on our list. From their experience at Miss St and first few cycles at UF they should know they often do not get their top guys. But whatever. That is how they are.

We have done exceptionally well recruiting DBs, that's true, and I've always said that. But I look at it another way. Had they not signed 15 DBs in two classes how small would our classes have been? They do not sign full classes and if they did on paper it's a mirage. 2019 looked good until 5 guys had grade issues(huge red flag). The 2020 class had 8 DBs in a class of 25 which brings the other positions total to 18 and I think four of the 18 never made it to campus or stayed less than a season. And WTH, after all those DB recruits, either our staff missed on "our own evaluations", they couldn't coach them up, or couldn't find the right guys to put on the field, and so we took a transfer CB out of the portal. You can't make this stuff up. Who wasn't scratching their head? And FWIW, when you take 15 guys at a position it's hard to sort it out... and all of that started when they failed to get enough DBs in Elam's class(2019). They wouldn't have landed Elam were he not a legacy. That's scary.

I am going out on a limb for our AD and I have to believe he was monitoring the situation over the course of a couple of classes and had discussions with mullen but nothing changed and mullen continued to believe he had us on the right track.

EXACTLY. And I think you’re the same boat as me when I say this because these two kinda tie together with what you just posted: I think more kids are STILL interested in UF than they’re letting on and just taking a wait and see approach. With the portal, they can come to UF and still bounce after a year if they don’t like how the new hire(s) pan out but the fact that we’re a month away from ESD and a lot of these kids who are highly coveted who are down to another school (who’s had a better season than UF too) and UF like:

    Singletary (UGA - UF battle)

    Thomas (OU, GT, UF battle)

Matthews and E Stewart (A&M - UF battle)

    Etienne (LSU? - UF battle)

Cyrus Moss (Oregon - UF battle)

Agbo (OU, A&M & UF battle)

Ausberry (seemingly UF at this point)

Shone Washington (same as Ausberry if all goes well with his OV too)

Armella (who knows where he’s leaning)

Jaron Willis (he’s still flirting with UF even tho he reaffirmed to GT before the season when FSU applied pressure)

Bissainthe (big 3 of Florida battle)

    Wiggins (LSU - UF battle)

listen folks, I just listed 13 kids and @apkgator and I ARE NOT SAYING that UF will get ALL of them, most of them, half of them, some of them, or even ANY of them;but the fact that those kids are linked to schools along with UF that have had a better season than UF (outside of FSU [who has more momentum than us], GT, LSU, and Miami), it would seem like they’d latch on already to the other school they like since UF is in perceived disarray, right? But they haven’t.

I think A LOT of those kids I listed in their hearts are UF leans but want to see how things shake out with us before committing.

if a lot of those kids hold off on committing on ESD and wait until NSD and if that happens, watch out for UF to close very good.

Looking at that link I am struck by how little impact UGA has had in Florida last 2 classes. This year a couple of IMG kids and Jacorey Thomas (who I still think could end up at UF). Last year Sorey, Lovesea Carrol (who UF basically passed on) and a 3 star from IMG. Short of IMG they have done virtually nothing.
