Damn, 7 teams in what 8 years. That's tough on the family, but I guess you get a good tour of the country.

Good one, I got it. At least he won't be coaching in China Grove.

EVERY offseason by this staff has been filled with incompetence. Every single one

I don’t understand the crob leaving , nit leaving , leaving stuff. I also don’t understand why it’s being made to sound like it’s him in control of the decision and he’s uncertain. That’s a bad look imo. You want to believe that there would be a don’t let the door hit u in the ass type mentality here. Is this just me or does it sound like we’re being held hostage by a POSITION coach ?

lol we are and a position coach that hasn’t shown much as a coach too. As we’ve ALL said about him, he’s not doing anything that is irreplaceable as a coach or as a recruiter. If he wants to go, i say let him go. I’m pretty sure Bam Hardmon would jump at the chance to leave Troy to come to UF and coach the LB’s or someone qualified. This is just weird

Him leaving didn’t bug me 1 way or the other. I was beating the drum last year about his potential esp with recruiting but his position had a bad year. If he wanted to go then so be it. These conflicting reports and then saying that he’s making his mind up is just bizarre.

IMO far too much is being made of this. The career path of CRob at UF is actually pretty comical from the fan/message board standpoint.
    1. Fans lose their minds when UF hires a kid that has never held an on field coaching position anywhere. Fans ignore the head coach and DC know this kid very well, think they have a future star and want to develop him. Also get him ridiculously cheap
    2. CRob looks to be a great recruiter, tons of recruits mention him. Becomes a darling of the fans, who scream bloody murder that UF isn't being proactive enough to pay him what he is worth. OMG, Kirby is going to lure him back to his alma mater and we will lose our best recruiter.
    3. People think our LB suck, must be because CRob can't coach or recruit. He's so overrated.
    4. Michigan makes him an attractive offer, fans happy because we will get an upgrade for sure.

Getting an offer from Michigan means CRob has enough market value to continue his normal career advancement. UF countering means they think he is valuable and his also a normal response. I simply don't understand how any of this makes UF look "incompetent"? It's the usual coaching carousel that EVERY school goes thru in the offseason.
CRob has likely been overhyped and underhyped at varying points in his tenure (myself included), but when you step back it really looks pretty normal IMO. A young guy who relates well to the recruits, also able to relate well to the kids on the roster. Needs to develop his chops as a position coach, thankfully our DC also coaches that position so in theory we should be covered in that regard. Came in on the low end of the pay scale, starting to escalate as he earns more respect in the market.
Would anyone be surprised if UF (or Michigan if he leaves) have a strong LB group next year, he continues to recruit well, and again becomes the darling of the up and coming coaching world?

yea i would be surprised to be honest with you. Our LB’s for 3 years have been piss poor in pass coverage and i dont see anything to suggest that’s magically going to change. If he goes he goes, if he stays he stays. That’s how i feel.

and it’s not just the C Rob situation that shows incompetence either this offseason. Ill wait to see how this plays out but to this point, this has been yet another unremarkable offseason. Unremarkable is a bit harsh because i do understand the move to replace the secondary coaches but keeping Grantham is betting the house that we turn it around under him next year and that’s alot to ask. Since we keeping him, anything less than fielding a top 20 D is a failure to me considering we aren’t going to be facing murderers row offensively next year outside of our big 3 opponents in the reg season

I agree we need to let it play out. I like the McGriff hire, I like CRob and fine if he stays, but if we get a guy like Jean Mary I'm happier. And I wasn't a fan of English in any way, so assuming we get better there. So maybe not all the changes I might like, but positive steps likely IMO

    rant-time lol

true. I think people forget when I go hard on this staff and football program, it’s because I EXPECT us to be in CFP contention every year and any year we aren’t in it, I get more and more critical and irritated lol. Yes it’s one helluva expectation to have because it’s going to lead to more disappointments than not, but that’s the standard we should hold this football program too. I hate the “well he’s been better than the last two coaches” stance some fans take because, no shyt he should be, he’s a better coach than both of them. I’m not suggesting Mullen should be fired or he should leave, nothing CLOSE to that. Even if we don’t make the CFP in 21 or 22, I won’t feel that way unless we dip to a 6-7 win program over the next two seasons (which I don’t see that happening btw). What I hope to see this year (and going forward) is Mullen regain that offensive aggressiveness and edge that I feel he lost this past season and lost it a bit to close out the 2019 season too. I want all gas no breaks from Mullen. I feel he lets his foot off the gas calling plays and his lack of wanting to put the pressure on the opposing team to keep up leads to some head scratching playcalls/offensive sequences at times. Sounds weird to say but I think our lack of aggression at times rubbed off on our defense. I can’t properly explain it but I just FELT that

but I will acknowledge that i bet it was hard to be all out aggressive because he knew his D wasn’t where he wanted it to be so at times he had to be strategical play calling wise to extend drives and kill time to lessen the possessions his D would be on the field. I def acknowledge and get that. Our D even if 2019 matched with our O from this past season goes undefeated.

I get you, I think that is voicing what we all want..... perfection. Fortunately you are one that understands it isn't reasonable to always expect that, even though you can have a valid opinion on things missing and steps to take to get there.
And I think it's always important to realize it's still our opinion. I'm not now, nor have I ever been a fan of Hevesy. But there is a reason he has been employed, and it's not just being Mullen's buddy. The "perfect" coaching staff we all envision probably wouldn't be so perfect in reality.
