I guess between 1138am and 101pm his second interview was a knockout.

I thought Fisher was a bad NFL coach. The guy seemed like he would continue to try and fit a square peg in a round hole. That being said if they hire him we can count on rebuilding our streak for the remainder of his coaching tenure at UT.

I don’t think Houston being a shit show is an indication of racism lol. Hope Atlanta grabs him or Brian daboll. And they trade deshaun Watson

I wouldn’t hire Burney if I owned a franchise. It’s about being a proven head coach. With no proven coach available, then he becomes a candidate.

Doesn’t the new NFL minority hiring rule decentivize hiring someone from an already elite Super Bowl champ/contender? Is an organization willing to hire someone and give a team like the Chiefs even more advantage with additional draft picks or ability to trade those picks (assuming they can)? Especially in the same conference. That coach better be a slam dunk or you’ve just made the strong even stronger.

Unfortunately we’re going to get the typical delusional fanbase from Knoxville pumping him up in the offseason as the next Pete Carroll. Just watch if it happens.

No co-DC but IMO no program was giving him that based on SC. I think he was looking for either the entire secondary, or split it but get co-DC. So Miami gave him the entire secondary, which we didn’t want to do.

It’s an interesting concept, Ahmad Black said he liked it under one coach because they worked together as a unit better, safeties and CBs on the same page. At the same time every single top program splits the 2 up IIRC. I think I even read somewhere here that NC State has CB / Safeties / Nickle coaches which sounds bizarre. I’m guessing they just forgo TEs coach or something and it’s just an extra recruiter?

I thought the draft pick insensitive went the other way ?? I thought it was the team that did the hiring of a minority that received added draft picks

No love here for the vols but I do miss the days of Fuller where the outcome wasn’t a forgone conclusion.

I didn’t even realize this was a thing. If so, it’s some bs. Bribe a team to hire a coach based on his ethnicity? WTH

Bear in mind that in Ahmad's day we had one less coach on the staff. I think when they added the extra assistant very few schools stuck with one secondary coach.

The article I read was from August but something may have changed since then. But last I saw is the team losing the coach got the reward.

With most defenses running with 5 in the secondary it doesn't make sense for one coach to be responsible for almost half of the defenders on the field when the ball is in play
