His OP? All of the others? It’s not not particularly insulting IMO but then again I post with one hand tied behind my back.

I know this is 6 months old but I just saw it and wanted to comment.

    1. There are certain people who are more predisposed to certain addictions due to genetics. Of course, there is always a choice to start or stop, but the ability to make those choices are exponentially harder.

    2. Addiction actually changes the structure of the brain and more receptors are put in place to accommodate the addiction, which leads to a greater desire (this is a crude characterization but hopefully is directionally correct). Those additional receptors don’t go away even after you stop.

So yes you always have choices, and there are biological and chemical aspects that may make the correct choices much harder.

How insecure do you have to be to hide the fact you’re wearing four inch lifts?

Judging by the "weaponization of the Justice Department" threads, it looks like the possibility of Trump actually beating Biden has finally occurred to them.

I will say that possibility looks better now than I ever anticipated, however, it's still unlikely to happen. I don't see Trump as a better candidate than he was in 2020. I see Biden as a much worse candidate, but I don't think most people vote FOR Biden. They vote against Trump. It's not just a popularity contest anymore, it's also a game of "who is less hated."

While I'm speaking only for myself after the 2016 election I don't think any rational Democrats have written Trump off. I would also add that in the end motivation for why a voter casts his/her vote really doesn't matter, if the motivation for voting for Biden is based more on fear of Trump than love for Old Joe, Biden would still be reelected.

I’m in the anyone but Trump camp and voted for Biden mostly for that reason. That being said, I think the Biden criticisms are largely unwarranted. He’s a worse candidate because he’s four years older (and was too old last time) and he’s a known entity in the role, but he hasn’t been half bad, and certainly no worse than was expected of him before he was elected.

A whole lot of people disagree with you. And I'm willing to bet a lot of those don't like Trump either, but were expecting better results than this.

Sorry to bump this, but he never said Christianity teaches hatred or intolerance towards others.

He seems to be saying that Christianity has rules, and there is no moral requirement to pretend the rules don't exist just because a group of people want to live their lives under a different set of rules. In fact, Christians have a duty to try and follow the rules to the best of their ability despite society's expectations. Will they inevitably fall short? Yes. That's just called being a human being. Does it mean they shouldn't try or just pretend their shortcomings aren't shortcomings? No. Tolerance does not mean rewriting the rules of Christianity to conform with what's currently the popular moral standard, nor does it mean chastizing people to the point that they feel worthless or hopeless.

And make no mistake, though sexual orientation is not a choice, the decision of who to have a relationship with is in fact a choice. Respectful disapproval of a relationship for moral/ethical/religious reasons isn't bigotry any more than disapproving unemployed teenagers having babies or disapproving a man screwing his brother's widow (shoutout to Hunter Biden). And if you want to go even broader than that, disapproving of sleeping with people who are married. Are people mad at them because they're attracted to the married person, or because they chose to have a relationship with a married person and made the choice to damage or destroy a marriage.

Yes, I’m aware people disagree, which is clearly their right, but I think it’s in error. Biden couldn’t possibly win in the results. The far left thinks he’s far too conservative. The far right too liberal. The “better results” is what I was addressing as the known entity problem. No President lived up to the expectations and he can’t still run on promise the second time around like he could the first. Will it matter as an anti-Trump candidate?

The original post in this thread didn't age well. I do agree with the original poster that "Donald Trump is an utter and complete clown". The reality is that the overwhelming majority of Republican primary voters prefer an utter and complete clown to a serious candidate.
