    1. I don't believe anyone believes that DeS is destroying Disney. The Mussolini comparison stems from him using his office to smite his political dissenters.

    2. DeS is humiliating himself with his transparent attempt to throw his weight around.

And, more importantly, Disney's power needs far exceeded what Orlando could provide at the time. Private corporations couldn't build their own power plants and sewage treatment stations, hence the need for the RCID municipality.

By the way. I had unconscious bias training today. It was a fun one. I failed.

Here was the gist of the story I had to listen and answer questions:

Annie (fit, light skinned African American 35-ish year old woman) tells the story "I moved to NY with my parents, they always pushed STEM classes on me. I eventually went to college and fell in love with my lab partner. It didnt work out as the long hours at the hospital interfered with our relationship. I am now married and have kids." - it was longer with more detail but...

I missed the fact that she was dated a woman in college and married another woman after they broke up because it wasnt mentioned and I just assumed Annie was married and dated dudes.

Was a sneaky test but proved a point.

You missed that third and crucial part. "Attempts at authoritarianism from your own side are irrelevant because they were unsuccessful."

If this were about principle, that would pretty much end the conversation regarding points 1 and 2.

If you mean covering his indictments or potential indictments including the crimes he committed leading up to the indictments I guess you can say that the MSM is helping him since the more he portrays himself as a victim the more attractive he becomes to the voters of MAGA nation.

This is a common misconception. Disney was never responsible for RCID bond debt. Ever. Reedy Creek Improvement District incurred the bond debt and was responsible for it. The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District is now responsible for the debt. If the bonds were all called right now, CFTOD would need to raise taxes on the owners of the land in the district. Who are the owners of the land in the district? That would be Disney. If Disney then did not pay those taxes, the property in the district could be foreclosed on.

I think we all know 2016 was different. It's not about the words "hold the line."

I failed at listening for sure and made assumptions. They threw in tons of detail which I was proud to remember.. where she went to college etc.. but missed a giant obvious assumption. Whoops.

Simple, every time I bring up an example of a Democrat doing similar things that DeSantis is doing, it's always met with one of the following:
    1. But it was struck down in court.
    2. But nothing ever materialized.
    3. But everything is fine now.
    4. But that's another state/city
    5. But I don't like him particularly (despite ignoring him and reaping the political benefits of that kind of policy, then screaming bloody murder when the other side does the same).

Sneaky? Hell it just proved that the majority of people (including you) assume when someone talks about a partner or marriage its with someone of the opposite sex. No, thats not always the case but your company really wasted the time and money for this sort of exercise? Would have been easier to just remind everyone about making assumptions. Even if the assumption is based on what is really normal.

Both Trump and DeSantis are evil people. I hope neither are the Republican nominee.

DeSantis didn't stick it to Disney. I know a lot of people want to frame it that way but this is something that should have happened a long time ago.

DeSantis and the state government made a decision to resolve the outdated RCID privileges by creating a new district to replace it and appointing the board members.

Is this bad for Disney? Yes, in the same way that they don't have the power to pick the board like they did under the previous district.

Look at it this way. If you're getting a sweetheart deal on something that can be taken away at any time, the best thing to do is make friends with those in power to keep it.

Disney decided that they didn't want to make friends with the people in power anymore but rather take a Principled Public Stand directly in opposition to them.

Everyone that hates DeSantis and wants 6 year olds being told they can change their biological gender rejoiced!

    That's their right to do.

Just like it is within the rights of those in power to take away that sweetheart deal.

Now you can call it what you want. You can frame it to a narrative that you prefer.

The bottom line is that had Disney just stuck to being Disney and not wading into political issues to score points against the governor, they'd likely still have RCID.

And if you think government power used against private corporations is just something that DeSantis invented, I direct you to Chick-Fil-A and all the cities around the country that have banned them from opening locations.

how is the covid vaccine requirement (the more deadly covid strand that was prevalent to begin with) any different than any other vaccine requirement? Is it authoritarian to require smallpox, measles, etc vaccines? tired subject, it isn't.
